The car needs more tuning but it cruises great. Need to lean out idle more. (12.5-12.8) I like to see mid 13s. Cruise is perfect. WOT is far to lean. 12.7 I saw at full boost.... working on that now.
Anyway, here is a walk around of the car. My back and hip are really messed up so it may be a little shakey. Can barely walk.

I’ve been tuning with the vent (pitot) tune extensions. I have it right around 10.8 - 11.2 AFR just with tuning those on the street. If I ever did a turbo again, and that's a big if, I'd probably do twins with integrated waste gates. The crossover, and the piping to the external gate was such a pain in the ***.
Two little guys hanging out by the valve cover, an air/water intercooler up front, and dual 3.5" intake pipes running to both front fenders.

Is that a passenger side manifold backwards on the driver side?

I was thinking a hot 355 with a couple of 46lb/min 50 trim's would make 800hp no problem and be streetable.

I sold all the manual stuff years ago and I put a TH350 in the car. It's not as fun to drive as the ZF6 in my c4, but it gets way too expensive to try to get a manual to hold power. And my thoughts were for drag racing the automatic would just be simpler

Is turbo selection better these days then it was 10 years ago? Like can you get a pair of turbos with opposing scrolls? be much cleaner install if you could.
but selection wise they have come along way. There’s substantially many more custom vendors making custom turbos and also alot of china based cheap turbos that are working very well

Well, took it on a long voyage. Tried to get lost on the backroads going north. Destroyed a 2020 5.0. Not trying. Didn’t even go to 4th... wound up north of Shawano and camped. It was great. Drove home and the AFRs were at 14.8-15.0 all the way. Boost is still a touch rich at 10.9-11.0.

Been trying to get a few guys from NYC and NJ to hit up Atco Dragway before it is gone for good. Should have loads of footage for this thread if that happens. We shall see though cuz its been raining like crazy here lately...

Will share an update. Labor Day weekend, car is back in the garage for the time being. Turbo w/accessories all removed... few welds need to be redone on the headers anyway, will attack it this Winter. Second pair of long tubes back on. Nice guy over in Far Rockaway hooked me up with a set of aluminum '128 L98 heads, even came with screw in guide plates. Gonna work a little porting magic on them if I have some time this weekend, but I need to finish the steam holes because I also picked up a 400 SBC they are eventually going onto. Going back and forth if I should have them punched out to 2.02 from 1.94 when they are resurfaced because I am considering putting them on a 305 to settle some crap with a few friends here in NYC. We'll see though, because then I would have to wait to get the valves punched out when the heads are resurfaced... and I really don't want to go to the machine shop twice. Anyways, let the porting at least begin.

Figured I would give an update as well. Finished one of the aluminum heads so far. Have not taken them to 2.02, actually talking myself out of it for the time being. Will have a pic of them once the other is finished. Ordering D1X next month, but using the engine in it now for mock up...
Ordered another damn set of eBay long tube headers after selling my last pair. For some reason (not surprised though) this set is really resting on the trans member after already notching it a tad for the last set. It’s also forcing the intermediate pipe to hit the catalytic converter heat shield 7mm bolt that I left on. Just pulled the heat shield off, as well as the trans member to make additional clearance; gonna cut off an additional 1/4” off of each end using a jigsaw. Worried about it’s structural integrity though, might need to box it in other areas away from the long tubes. Sigh it’s always a project...

I'm taking the edges all the way down this time, then boxing the freaking thing away from the tubes. I also see that the drivers side tube is kissing the shifter linkage bracket before it even reaches the trans member, so now I have to shave that freaking thing down a tad too. Oh, and it's also hitting into the undercarriage bracket in which the passenger rear seat belt bolts into lol. Good ole ebay....

Did my share of surgery on mine too. And this for nothing exotic except to make clearance for the Hedman headers to Flowmaster (no) cat back exhaust y-pipe.

Just gonna throw this pic up here. Engine has since been naturally aspirated, and the exhaust is back on now that the freaking trans member issue is resolved. Just took it out for a datalog to see how she is doing because I took a quick idle vid the other day and she felt really strong. The engine is loving this weather. That kPa just stays like that, damn thing must have forgotten that I removed the turbo charger weeks ago lol. Timing eventually hits 35* just before 3000-RPM, and the kPa is still there lol. Had to let go because the tires refused to hold on the street up top...

Under the car has been sorted out. Even now with the trans member no longer hitting the exhaust, it still hit in other areas, so it took some time to get it to where it is now hitting nothing whatsoever. Flowmaster has been back on it for awhile, damn thing sounds just as good as it did back in the day. Dropped idle RPM down to 800-RPM, was getting tired of it being closer to 900-RPM. Also capped RPM at 5500 in the ECU. Runs and drives flawlessly. Revs pretty damn good to 3000, just not as fast as I'd like it to up to 5500. But then again I have been asking way too much from the stock 48mm throttle body all these years. Thinking about getting a 58mm TB and just bypassing the 52mm TB entirely... just for the sake of it revving as fast as I'd like it to, and not from an additional horsepower standpoint. The 58mm TB will be used on the 400 once its done, so it won't be a loss in any way.

Hey Joe, can you do me a favor with your Formula... can you take a peek at your power steering lines that run underneath the length of the lower radiator housing and tell me where the two bolts that support it bolt into? I have been running that turbo for the last decade, and I bolted the power steering lines to the bottom of the FMIC to support them, but now that it is off, I honestly forgot where they go. Are they in front of, or behind the air dam? And if behind the air dam, this would mean they are bolted to two of the air dam bolts (the inner ones), correct...?

Well highs up in WI are in the mid 30s. Still driving the ol gal. If it dries up I’ll take it out today yet. We got 4” of rain last night... Rob, I’m digging the 400 ci idea! I’ll keep you guys posted. When I put it away when I first tuned with Ethanol, I topped of the tank and added stabil. I found some stabilizer and cleaner from Lucas Oil. Should I top off the tank or run it down? Thanks guys.

My aluminum heads have been done for awhile now, they were opened up as much as they can possibly go. Still thinking larger valves, but I have time to do that if need be. I scrapped the D1X concept and am going F1X, it just makes more sense with four hundred plus cubes. Been toying with the 305 while waiting for parts to get here for the new/replacement engine; 255 grams/second at 4500-RPM in gear (310-RWHP n/a), and I spin it to 5500-RPM. Air/fuel at 14.7 throughout the VE table, with wideband reporting accurate fueling in relation with commanded fuel, so using injector flow I calculate horsepower to be pretty damn impressive at 5500-RPM for a stock LB9 short block. Almost feel sad pulling it lol, but I don't trust the rings anymore. The 400 is being built the right way in every way imaginable this go around...

Hey guys. Do you know by chance what gauge the factory fuel pump wiring is in these cars? Took mine out again 2 hours out from my house. Turned it up. Insane with the cold weather! All over the road at 105 top of third like a damned greased hippo!

Guys, with no local track anymore to fool around in, it's been boring as hell... especially with the amount of rain we've been getting here. Spare time away from work has me trying to get the stock TPI system to hit 0 to 6000-RPM (0% TPS to 100% TPS) in less than one second (P/N). Getting closer and closer, I'll be happy with it being a tad over one second. Still has the 48mm throttle body, which is great in terms of throttle response. Only thing aftermarket with this LB9 now that the turbo has been removed is the cam and injectors (and Cometic head gaskets, which actually brought static compression down to 9:0), everything else is absolutely stock (albeit heavily ported throughout). Will try to have the green line (mph) in the screen shot as soon as the damn rain subsides if anyone is curious what it should average in the 1/4 mile naturally aspirated...

Thanks Joe. I was starting to think I was running out of pump at the top of third. It goes lean when it spoils. Guessing 850 hp or so where it is now. I’m going to do what you did and see if this helps.

I have the car for sale complete, or I'd be interested in selling the blower setup too. I've thought about putting the motor (as naturally aspirated) in the c3 and tossing an LT1 in the third gen. I have a few LT1s in the shop.
