What size wastegate?

Hey I'm currently mid build on a single turbo (GT45) build and am ready to buy a wastegate. i am running the xs power manifolds that come with a wastegate port set up for a 38mm. The location of the gate is what i am concerned about due to it coming off the number on primary on the turbo side. i plan on running 7PSI for now and want to make sure i get a big enough wastegate. So will 38mm do the trick and has anybody had any luck with ebay wastegates?

Re: What size wastegate?

Kyle86 on here has a thread on in the lsx swap section GT45 and a single emusa 38mm ebay gate. Seems to hold 7psi fine for him on the 4.8L and 5.3L. I personally would go minimum 44mm especially if you think flow is an issue.

In the past I have always had good luck with X02, I had two 44mm for my current twin scroll GT45 setup but they were too bulky and I snatched up some Tial MVS 38's on Black Friday for $200 a piece.

If in a good location to extract flow then a 38 could work but i agree, you should go 44-50 for ultimate low boost control on a single turbo

When I was just running an 8 pound spring and 44mm ebay wastegate, my boost would creep with the T72 turbo. Save yourself the headache and install a 50mm wastegate on that XS Power setup...

2.5" is fine for 500 hp. 3" for more. Big power singles use 4"
