Officially part of the forced induction club!!

After running into some issues and time constraints, I finally finished my novi 2000 install. This was originally done by Mark A 91formula and then used by fstfbdy. I rebuilt the motor with a 383 forged eagle lower end, 6" h beams and arp 2000 bolts. 8.5 to 1 je forged pistons. Reused my dart pro 1 heads and stealth ram. The cam I am using is a retro roller 236/242 .52/.54 110 lsa which I know is not exactly the best for a blower with the tight lsa. For the intercooler, I am using a 4" core with 3" plumbing. Still need to tidy up a few things, but otherwise its done. Tuning is becoming a challenge though with the c950. Kicks out 13 psi and pulls really hard, kinda scary actually. Of course, here are some pics.

Not yet. Still working on the tune. That and I may not have time until late fall to get it to the track unfortunately. Im hoping the hp numbers will be in the high 500's or low 600's. I was already at 485 before the blower with a bigger cam.

485 to the wheels? Was that with stealth ram and Dart heads? What size are those heads?

I wish to the wheels, flywheel hp on an engine dyno. Maybe now it would be 485 to the wheels.

Very nice build. Always nice to see another boosted thirdgen!

Is that a digital 6 plus you have there on the firewall? I have one inside my car because I was a tad worried about mounting it in the engine bay. Any issues thus far?

Re: Officially part of the forced induction club!!

yeah it is a digital 6. Its been there for about two years without any issues. As far a vids, I really dont have anything thats any good to record with. Little behind the times on that one. I can try to use my older camcorder this weekend at an auto cross event that I am going to and see what happens.

Re: Officially part of the forced induction club!!

I did get some vids from the autocross I went to on Saturday. For the second time ever trying it, I did not do too bad overall. I also found one from the first time I tried it at carcraft last year.

Re: Officially part of the forced induction club!!

Looks great. I miss the sound of the Novi under my hood. Some days I wish I keep it.
It deff. pulled good and would put ya back in the seat.

Hopefully my 78mm turbo setup pulls as good but I think I took a step backwards doing so.

Re: Officially part of the forced induction club!!

Well, I found the weak links in the driveline. Went to an autocross event a few weeks ago and completely grenaded my custom tq arm mount on the 12 bolt. Let of the clutch too fast slowing dow and got realy bad wheel hop. Even bent the shocks if that tells how bad it broke. Put the 10 bolt back in with the stock shaft because I was going to the track two weeks ago. Figured I would be easy on it and go more for top speed. 1st pass went ok 13.2 @ 119 with a 2.4 60' and completely missing third gear. Felt like a gomer doing that. Second run I left a little harder, real high in third started to notice a vibration, shifted into 4th and a second later the driveshaft twisted off. Must have done something off the line it didnt like. Still ran a 12.4 @ 102 2.1 60' braking through the trap without a shaft. Never did find the ujoint. Also broke the yoke on the rear end. Now to save up for a dana 60 or 9". Not sure which way I want to go yet. Carnage pics wil follow.

Re: Officially part of the forced induction club!!

It's making some steam on those messed up runs at least. Glad to see you didn't hit the wall while breaking at the track. 12 bolt is usually cheaper than a 9" or 60 Dana.. Completely doing away with the 12 bolt?

Re: Officially part of the forced induction club!!

Yeah completely doing away with the 12 bolt. Ive heard too many issues with the 12's, manual trans, and clutch drops causing gear distortion. I just need to go bigger. My mount was just destroyed with no good way to fix it or improve upon it. It was nice because it took some of the load off the pinion and put it to the tubes. Oh well i guess.
