Just Installed the Summit Window Switch

I couldn't find a lot of information on the Summit Racing Digital Window switch, so I decided to throw some info up about my experience with it. I am adding it to my Nitrous Express Proton kit on my L98 89 Iroc.

I would describe this box as a "Poor Man's Nitrous Controller". Even though it is only a window switch, the fact that it is digital, adjustable, and has an LCD readout make it a pretty nice piece for $60.

For those who haven't seen it:

What I like about it - As far as tuning goes, it seems like it is going to be a great tuning aid. I have not run it with my system yet, however when you turn the unit on and there is no tach signal, you can adjust the settings on the box using the buttons and the LCD read out. There are several settings, however RPM on and off make the most sense to be messing with.

As soon as you start the car, it locks those settings in (and saves them in memory, even if it gets unplugged). So the first time I run my system this year, I can setup a narrow Window, say 4000 on and 4500 off to see if I have any issues.

If you are having traction problems at the track, you could easily raise the rpm that the system turns on at from the pits.

If you are trying to slow the car down (say you don't have a cage and need to stay above 11.50), you can narrow the window between passes.

I am pretty excited about it, I will let you guys know how well it works after I run it.

Re: Just Installed the Summit Window Switch

I still haven't run it. I have it installed in my car, it doesn't do anything weird or seem to have any issues, but I have not run it on the bottle yet. The cool thing is it acts like a digital tach once the system is "on", with a bright blue LED indicator to tell you when the system is active.

It's a long story, but basically I bought nitrous for my L98, swapped my L98 to a carb, bought a carb plate, couldn't get the carb plate to clear my factory hood, bought a cowl hood, and that is where I am currently at . I am hoping to run the spray before the end of the year though!
