get a LS1 fbody harness and ECM, LS1 intake but you can use the truck intake just fine, it should clear the stock hood but i"m not 100% sure. All you'd need to do is have it tuned for the LS intake manifold and such.
OR you snag a truck ECM/wiring harness and use that with the bone stock truck motor. I'd prefer the LS1/LS2/LS6 intake setup as it should give abit more power over truck intake, mainly higher rpms. Plus it looks better IMO.

i dont think a truck intake would fit under the stock hood, a cowl hood probably. I just know that it wont fit on the 4th gens.
you can get an LS1 intake for cheap seeing how mostly everyone gets rid of them

4th gens have no hood clearance at all. 3rd gens however have some, as a stealth ram fits fine and its pretty tall above the valve covers. Truck intake tho is pretty tall but looks like it may fit, at the very least with a mild cowl hood. It be interesting to see if it would tho.

I'm not sure about that... My '97 (factoryWS6which adds about 2", but less than a stock'98 and up) has miles more room then my '83, '87 or '87 (2 cars with "powerbulge" hoods). I would be very surprised if there wasn't on average about 2" more over the front of the engine in a 4th gen, though the back is another issue... not with the hood but with the fact that roughly the back 1/3 of the engine is under the cowl

I wanted the edelbrock Proflo xt intake for that car instead of buying a LS6 intake but turns out that wont fit

I read an article where a 305 making 387 hp was built using AFR heads, but since you're posting in the power adder section I assume you want some kind of super charger?

Don't waste your time with a 305 trust me been there done that. even a bone stock ls1 blows the doors off my 305 with a 100 shot of nitrous-

Re: How can I get 400 to 450 horsepower on a 89 iroc 305 tpi
Wow you guys are all crazy about this 305, and I didn't go to the 2nd page, but I have a tpi305 from an 88TA I just dropped in my formula, so I can still drive it every hear and there, while I'm building my 600hp 12.0:1 solid roller forged 010 block, to go along with my ported HSR and world sportsman II heads. The biggest issue with the 305, isn't the heads, the intake was designed for a 305 engine already, so those slp runners, and that 52mm throttle body, waste of money! Those heads will be most of your power. The tb is even too big for a 350, a 350 that goes to 6500-6800 can still use a 750 tb, or the stock 48, along with a airfoil. They use them on the ram jet 502! I spent less than $2500 on my 350 iroc-z and the first day at the track, all stock engine, never took the valve covers off, and a slipping trans I broke, I went from 15.1 @ 89mph to a
13.81 @ 99mph through only 11 runs, first time at the track! ON stock suspension but nittor 555r's. Just take those headers, turn them upside down, bolt a 70mm turbo on it, boost managed fuel pressure unit, for 10psi for #boost and put in a walbro 255 lph pump or the new holley Stealth pumps, 355lph! only $100! U'll be good for as much hp as your willing to try, you can always boost it up for the track to 15#'s, then its actually
30#'s with our N/A and your car would be able to throw down at least 450HP ebay has great kits for roughly $1100 and you'd be alot happier with what you have.
But I do like it, looks nice. My 305 has black valve covers, I have silver ones, but I also want to prove what this will run. I will take my car to route 41 IN and try it. Just keep in mind, I have a 8 yr old 3000 stall from midwest converters of rockford, full B&M shift kit in a GM reman trans an aluminum driveshaft from a 89 T/A, 9-bolt posi 3.27, full discs. Now I have full rear suspension, no rear sway bar, LCR's, LCA's and a boxed in Panhard bar but for now its back to stock 245 eagle GT's lol. But I also have other things under the hood, But go to my site, I will keep you all posted, but mind you, my cars, setup to be a "Newer School" "old school" version. Like my dads GTO, power brakes from a vacuum pump, cam was too big, low compression, but I was faster than new 2010 SS 427's, yeah, said for an 8.43:1 motor. I only have the alternator and water pump on the engine, no a/c, Heat, P/S, Manual steering gear, front sway bar, I deleted my heater box, oil cooler, it works great.

Re: How can I get 400 to 450 horsepower on a 89 iroc 305 tpi
Man ik u wonna keep the 305 and iv heard of ppl running 305s at that many ponies but ur cheapest and most reliable option would be to change to a 350 then super chevy did a 400HP build on a 350 for 1000$ And it was carburated, that's what I have in my 90 model iroc and mine dynos at 411 HP and 390 tourqe (I did a little more than super chevy) and mine costed like 1400$ I think but I also did a lot more work with the carb because I wanted it to fit under the factory hood anyway I'll stop rambling my setup is as follows
•aluminum comp heads
•comp camshaft
•750 demon carb with vacum secondaries (very important because I'll burn through plugs with a mechanical secondary)
•single plane intake
•a really expensive *** breather over it to fit under the hood
Again if u don't care about keeping factory hood then more power to u, because the most expensive part of my build other than the carb was the breather for it which ended up being like 350$ Anyway I would suggest this Iv had it for almost a year now and it's been great just enough power to keep u competitive, I have a LS7 that's about to go in it now but I'm keeping the engine for sure, might put it in my girls camaro
