P600B HSR on a stock L98
Ive seen alot of junkyard turbo builds on here so i figured id document my build here and get some input. Is fairly simple Stock L98 with a HSR and a p600b. We did a S/D conversion with a 730 ecm to tune and run a 3 bar map and the 59 code. Got the engine together and running thanks to ta buddy and we got it to run off of one of his chips. Got to get the wideband welded in then get some tuning done. Im interested to see what this l98 can do with numbers at the track and on the dyno... Ive got most the parts to build the next motor but im going to do my best to squeese what i can out of this for a as long as i can.

Subscribe..
I see you went from a stock TPI to the Stealth Ram under boost. Can you explain the diff in performance from before to after to HSR swap?

NY3RDGEN,
We did more then that so It wouldnt be a fair comparison.
We put in a built 700r4 with 3k stall. Diff. rear end , suspension , etc...
Haven't tuned it yet so No results.

I'll be watching this one with interest. Are you planning to dyno this combo? I'd like to see how the hp/tq curve looks compared to tpi.

Re: P600B HSR on a stock L98
Work is been keeping me busy but have got a lil bit done. We got the guages in. Just got to get it running good enough to take it down to get the wide band bung welded in. The tripple pillar dosnt want to fit as well as i would like. Also the blower pully and the crank pully were not lined up. So we are going to try to shim the blower pully so its inline with the crank pully. I might get it dynoed if the motor lives thru the "street tuning". I have no idea how many miles is on this motor.

Anybody have alignment issues with their Procharger. And what did you shim the complete bracket or just pulleys To solve it.
belt wanted to ride off the back of the crank pulley by 1 rib.

Re: P600B HSR on a stock L98
I had the same problem on an 86 with a 91 350. The solution for me was to put different spacer to move the head unit. Shorter spacers move the pulley forward and longer spacers move the pulley back as in closer to the engine. If you can get a straight edge on the crank pulley and measure how far off you are you will find the amount you are off, or straight edge from the blower pulley to the crank pulley in your case You can order the correct spacers from Procharger for $4.00 each plus $12 shipping or go to sears and they are much cheaper.
Good luck.
Good luck.

How much boost you running?
I'd guess you'd be around the 320 - 350rwhp area. Add a full exhaust to the equation and you'll see plenty more power.
Most L98's dyno about 200-210 to the wheels. The HSR is good for a 20-30hp peak crank HP gain on the top end with a tune. 3.8TransAm's GTA made 225rwhp with a cat-back and tune, bone stock other than that.
Most otherwise stock supercharged L98's I've seen running 5-7 PSI make around 300rwhp.
