Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

That is a heavy cast piece off a DD engine. Good luck finding flanges to fit and seal properly. I think only the factory cast pieces that butt to it will work and make a good seal. You probably don't want to hear this, but I you are better off making your own merge section because of the angles the two pipes will enter the T6 flange.

The build is going slow. Working on the Holley Stealth Ram intake, 58mm TB, and log headers to T6 cast merge. Doing my turbo set up like Bnoble.

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

Car runs very good N/a with 24LBS injectors, HSR intake, Accel remote coil. Ran a 7.80 in the 1/8th in the other day with my old 26-11.50-16 MT ET Streets, I hope it runs a little faster with my new rubber and rims. Turbo set up is going oh so slow, getting ready to order my turbo and some related parts from Majestic Turbo in Texas.

Lots of flavors of the S400. It is like saying I am putting a V8 engine in it. I will take a guess at it being the standard DD S400.

I just looked at turbodaves.com and the S400 with 75mm CW, T6-1.32 A/R turbine is listed for $629 w/ free shipping. It seems like a better deal than the site you posted. You might want to check at theturboforums and see if other vendors have a better deal.
I think the 75mm CW would be better than the 71mm CW for your setup.

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

I'd take off the front rims and run skinnies the next time you take it to the track, may yield some good gains.

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

You guys might want to run the numbers for rolling resistant vs air resistant. The rolling resistant is small is general at 35 PSI. The air resistant swamps the rolling for most of the run. I think you would gain more by putting a plate under the car vs. changing wheels.
Over-inflating is just dangerous. Maybe a hundreds gain in ET.

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

Forget running the numbers, I know what I gain with 245/60-16, 235/60-15 and 215/65-15, I've got time slips.

Funny, going from 245/50-16 to the 215's at 50-60psi I get better gains than most people get by going to skinnies at normal pressures, and I've got a set of 15" firebird wheels that almost match my 16" "high tech" firebird wheels. Heck, I get more of an increase adding the extra pressure to the 245's than I do by going to the 215's at stock pressure, and the 215's/firebird wheels are 23lbs lighter than the 245's/TA wheels.

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

Well I am curious. What are the gains in ET with just higher air pressure?

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

On my near stock formula 350 I went from 13.7199@97.8 to 13.6075@99.9869 with no changes besides swapping stock front wheels for the 15's with 215's on them (both in the 50-60psi range). I need to find one of my older timeslip logs to find exact numbers on the pressure change thing, but I know that going from somewhere around 28-32 to 50-60psi with either 245/50/16's or 235/60/15's I saw almost exactly the same improvement as changing wheels.

Its a stock headed, stock bottom end, with the HSR, 24lbs injectors, Accell coil, and a "Hot Cam", should be about 200ish to the wheels. I got the right axles now I just have to get time to work on it. LCA's came in also

I broke 5 ten bolts including one "ultimate" 10 bolt buildup. Personally that money would have been better spent purchasing a used 9" setup from a local racer. No getting around the small ring and pinion on them.

It just has to last to last till next tax season, then I will get the 9" rear and the rest of the turbo parts to finish my car in 2012, well 2012 is my target to have my car finished.

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

I have been spending a lot of time on theturboforum.com and am thinking I am going to go with a Gt45 turbo, with a 1.05 a/r, found some really inexpensive one's on the web site, and lots of really good turbo tech

That's exactly why I changed my mind on turbo selection, TTF.com is the $h!T for turbo info, turbooptions.com is ok, love TGO

This thread is over a year old and still has nothing to do with a power adder? When are you installing that bad boy? Gear mesh pics......trans & rear-end forum? What ebay seller did you get the China GT45 from?

Pal-performance is who I am getting my turbo from.
Got to build the foundation first, and it's going to be turbo charged as soon as the foundation for the project has been finalized. Can't build a house on a grassy knoll, got to lay the foundation first, I am going to do this right the first time, why change 2 or 3 times, it's cheaper to just do it right the first time. I have been hear since 2003 and have watched as people build nasty F-body's with 100% stock suspensions and wonder why the can't HOOK or are braking parts all the time

Re: T6 S400 92 Z28

C'mon, you know how we build around here. Start making power and fix broken parts as you go! That GT45 should put a smile on your face.

Just got to get a Tq-arm and new shocks and struts and then the turbo set up is next on the list, I have a plan laid out and am sticking to it, unlike my last car, my 87 IROC T-top, I learned alot, and am putting lessons learned into this car.
