Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
i actuallly graduated from lee davis as well back in 2008 now im attending jsarg. I already have mickey thompson 275s and dont beleive i can fit anything larger on these rims ue to backspacing issues. I have been looking out for some vette rims here and there and if i fing a good deal on them i will def go with some 315s which will clear everything ( i put on my brothers rims just to check)

Theres a company on ebay they sell vette wheels in a 4 set or indivitual wheels. They are replicas unfortunatly, but they're good enough for a kid in high school like me. They're located in Florda a lot closer to you than me in Canada. They have pretty much every modle wheel in all kinds of sizes, also all kinds of finishes too. Hopefully this is helpful. Awsom build btw!!

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
ok done with the dual walbro setup. it wasnt too bad after all
drilled a small hole for the second pump's wires
..............IT GOT STUCK....... i couldnt get it to go in or out
but after playing with it for a bit it just went in.
Im done, now its just time to put the tank back on
I routed the lines so that the fuel Y-block would be where the old tank lines connected to the old body fuel lines.

Mark,
Back on post 66 and 67 I questioned the fuel line. He said he ended up using submersible fuel line.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
i havent updated this in a while, i really havent worked on it much since the building of the headers has demotivated me a bit, lol people make it seem very simple online. Im almost done with them but they still need some work. I also havent had much time to work on it since i started summer classes. I sold my other car and bought a newer Nissan Titan Crew cab LE and have been more excited about driving that than working on the t/a. ill finish the headers sometime this week

After you removed the s/s hose, where did you get the submersible hose from? There is not many places that sell it.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
Im almost done with the interior, i just need to put the dash in and wire in the gauges, im done dynamating. The engine bay is as good as it will get, i pretty much gave up on trying to shave it and make it look all nice, it just looks decent.
Ive been thinking about the transmission lately, considering that i need a clutch and a spec 3 will run me over 500 should i:
1) put that money towards a nicely built th350/th400 with a nice stall converter and maybe trans brake with full reverse manual valve body and sell all the t56 parts?
2) or just i just get the clutch for the t56 and call it a day?
I know a t56 is more fun and better gas milage but i will more than likely never go on long trip other than just around town and ive realized that this is just a hobby for dragracing by no means this is a daily street car nor will it be. I know i will be more happy with the performance and consistancy of the auto at the track but will suffer in the streets
Chime in and help me make up my mind also if you know of a decent place to get th350 or th400 from im guessing something that is 700hp capable will be plenty

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
ok so i bought a mad dog stage 3 700r4 transmission with the violent shift kit, 2800-3200 stall converter, largest b&m cooler with SS lines today.
The transmission is rated at 700hp which i will not be even close to.
Im guessing the stall converter will be fine for right now since my cam is pretty small and im guessing spool up time/rpm will be around 3k as well. what do you guys think?

Convertor should be good, bc the turbo should spool pretty quick. I had a 2800-3200 midwest stall and liked it .
Lets see some more pics!

would it be smart for me to also wire in the two step and use it along with the converter?

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
i bought it from my brother, he had it in his iroc for a couple of passes and then sold the car but kept the engine and transmission, he used the mickey thompson drag radials dot approved and sprayed a 100shot and never had any problems with it, for $650 i cant complain, i think its a good deal for all the stuff he gave me.
My plans were to get a turbo 350 or 400 but he offered me his 700r4 and couldnt let it pass.

I think you will be a lot happier with that strong built 700R4 than a 3-spd trans.
The converter rpm sounds fine. I wouldn't 2-step it until once you get everything sorted out and want to go faster.

I had a mild 4l60e that took a ton of like 450WHP abuse, once the turbo was put in and made like 600WHP it hated life and died

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
So i have been working on this alot lately but i lost my phone which had a great camera so now it wont be as easy for me to post up pics, i could grab my moms digital camera and stick the sd card in my laptop but thats more work lol.
On the other hand i went ahead and ordered a bunch of parts, i got 3 2 5/8 autometer gauges volt water temp and an electrical oil pressure gauge for the 4th gen dash vents and i also picked up 1 2 1/16 boost gauge autometer of course. I also bought a B&M PRO RATCHET shifter, i love those things, and the flexplate for the auto tranny, flexible oil dipstick for the 700r4, some arp flexplate bolts and i finally ordered the right proportioning valve to match the new rear end with disc brakes.
I need to remove the clutch pilot bearing and drill and tap the fuel block off plate for the oil return line, i like the idea of the fuel block off plate than the oil pan, ive read alot online and people arent having problems with it.
Headers are almost done, just a bit more welding and fabbing, i hate building headers
Leaving for the beach friday and wont be back until sunday so not much will get done, but next week i will drop the engine back in and start wiring it.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
ive been slowly working on mine, i finally put the engine in and hooked up a bunch of wires and found out that the manifold i built for the turbo doesnt quite fit, it hits the frame rail therefore i will just notch the frame rail, it is only like 2 inches.
Also the turbo sits too close to the new 3" aluminun radiator wont give me enough room for a filter so i will cut both upper and lower radiator supports, move the radiator forward about 2-3" and lower it about 3" as well for hood clearance then from the turbo run a 4" aluminum pipe to the driver side ex-battery tray.
I have still not picked up the transmission from my brothers house, 5 mins away from mine and i go there like everyday.
I will just take it slow from now on, i do not want to lose motivation but theres alot to do so slowly but steady ill get it done someday. its just a hobby

Yep, it gets hot and i dont want it that hot. On a warm day, it will hit 200-210 deg and I wanted to keep it closer to 180 ish. It has hit 225 before I pulled over and shut down. To some thats not too hot but I think it is.
I think i have an air flow problem and my cooling fans arent strong enough to pull air thru the thick 3 or 4" rad. So I'm gonna be back in PA to work on it this weekend and hopefully fix that issue so i can start driving it more

i took my thermostat out and that seemed to help at first, but eventually still got too hot. I like the electric pump but just not sure 35-37 gpm is enough... they make a 55 gpm pump that I will get if the new fan mods and air shroud i'm making doesnt help.

Just an FYI, i got my turbo car finally running cool...well it didnt go over 190 on a good cruise in some 80 deg heat, so I was very happy with that. Most of the time it was in the high 170-low 180 range. I went with a factory LS1 fan setup from an fbody. With some cutting and fitting, i got it on my rad which is smaller than LS1 rad. The fan has build in shroud and that made all the difference.

What size is your oil feed line? It looks really big. Also, what are you going to do for the turbo air intake? The pictures make it look like the compressor is pretty close and angled at the radiator.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
The feed line is a -4 braided line to a oil restrictor i cant remember the size, but its what everyone is using on the t70. As far as the air intake that is why i had to move the radiator forward and down, the turbo is about 6" away from the radiator which gives me enough room for a small filter like a mushroom or a 90* 4" elbow and like a 4" aluminum pipe to a cone filter. im not sure what will be more efficient yet.

Ok, for some reason it looked like -6 line, but the -4 is good. I would recommend the elbow and cone filter, if possible, so it can suck cooler air.

My filter is located below the battery tray and gets air from where the fog light used to be. I'm using a K&N filter and I try to find the biggest filter that will fit in that location.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
Thanks for the advice, i need to take some measurements now.
I finished the line lock setup now i just have to wire it. Now i have a new master cylinder, new J65 prop valve, new rear disk brakes, calipers and pads, lets hope this thing stops. Its not all about the go, i might have to upgrade my front brakes in the future.

Re: Just another blow thru MP-T70 build thread
Update:
Ive been slacking alot lately and havent done much butttt.... i did send the carb. out to a good place about 2 weeks ago, still waiting to hear back from kevin.
The wiring is almost done so is the interior for the most part, i just need to fire this thing up before i put the dash on since all the wiring will be behind the dash.
Today i got finished the pipes that go from the turbo to the intercooler im using 2.5" from turbo to intercooler and 3" from intercooler to carb hat to help spool times. . I need some hairspray, for the hairspray trick i spend some time looking throught my moms things and couldnt find any hair spray.
I didnt have much time before work but i did tack the downpipe, i need to jack the car up and finish it. I need some help fabricating this. I am running the dowpipe from the turbo to behind the header, then i am using a V-band clamp, than from vband clamp im using more bends to get to where the factory cat. converter used to be then straight to the exhaust starts.
My question is do i need to make some sor tof support for the downpipe more towards the firewall? should i put one of those wired flex pipes where the stock cat. used to be to keep it from cracking? any help is appreciated
here are some pictures.
I am thinking about placing the vband around in the general area of where i shaded black is that ok? and also should i fabricate some support in the general area of where its red? am i gonna experience any cracking if i dont?
after about 10 months of pure lazyness i am finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, i could have shaved about 5-6months off this build buy working on it more often lol
