Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

Can I use flexible lines to connect from the distribution blocks to the nozzle? LTR's with a nitrous port welded in place. Most of the kits I see have hard lines that can be bent to the desired shape/configuration. Any thoughts on the NOS Fogger 2 nozzle? Annular discharge? If you feel there is a particular nozzle I should consider, feel free to let me know. Thanks

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

I think you'll be fine as long as they are made to handle the pressure (up to 1500psi). I currently have a steel braided line connecting from the solenoid to the plate (fogger)...

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

Can I see the braided lines from the distribution blocks to the nozzle??? I called the guys at NOS and they said it might be too bulky / require a fitting to fit the braided line. Are the nylon hoses rated at 1500+ PSI???? Nozzles ideas????

have you looked into something like this?

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

I have run a fogger for over 10 years.and tryed the #4 for the lines.
you can use the hard lines.. will make more room when you go to work on it.. i run a fogger set up..

By the cheap steel lines to work with First..

then when you get it set up the way you want..(LOOKS)

BUY the SS lines get them set up with the same bends.. Buff them out and you will be much more happy with them..

and always support the diss Bocks..or your lines will crack..
the last time i did my lines i took them apart. put some heat to them
to see if i could get them to be a bit more soft. to not crack.

it was always the smaller short lines that cracked on me..
you have the NOS tool. buy some cheap Brake line. work out how you want your bends to look like.. that SS stuff Is spendy. always hang on to your left over SS hard line.. you can have it fixed to use by a hose shop.
as back up line if you get a crack.

a fogger set up will ALWAYS make more HP over
any other NOS set up.. from 100Hp to 600Hp all By it's self..
you Just need the eng that can take it is all...lol

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

Lots of guys run standard braided line to nozzles. Harris Speed Works makes custom lines if needed just for that purpose. -3 lines if using -3 fittings or whatever you want/need for your setup. I've seen them make custom direct port kits for LSx setups/sheetmetal intakes/etc using braided lines instead of hard tubing. I also prefer the look of those lines compared to tubing

they make 2 or 3 diff styles.

it's how your intake or point you place the Nozzle in your intake.
that makes you pick what one you want..

in my intake i want them to spray down into the TPI Runners.
all 8 of them spray down into the runners.so i use this type
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NO...S/?image=large

BUT:
are available in standard, 180 degree, and 90 degree left or 90 degree right configurations. These nozzles are made from brass and have a black finish.

THIS HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 7 YEARS. forgive the Dust.

closer look at 90 deg nozzles

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

this is the same set up im using over. with the new procharger 12psi
and the 427 sbc.

i can tell you back when the old 383 was running..you would Hit this
and the car felt like you just dropped into passing gear!!and would not stop pulling till you let up off the button.

it will be a few less HP Hit.. dropping it down to like 100HP. or less..
all this was done back in 1993. after i got the car back from Lingenfelter.

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

Wow, why has that been sitting for seven years? Very impressive! Does anyone else have a direct port setup? Maybe some photos? I was reading this book on Nitrous and they had a photo of a direct port setup done by ASM, anyone familiar? I will post some pictures my of own. I just received the Pro Race Distribution Blocks.

direct port on a stealth ram intake
was thinking about trying a stealth ram out.
the soft lines would make jet swap out a bit faster.

the hard lines suport all the parts installed on the fogger
and in my photos i did not buff out the SS lines. or they would look like chrome..and doing a jet swap takes a bit of time (16 jets) PITA. but in a funway.

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

If anyone has a direct port setup on the runners please let me see it. I went to fit my nozzles and as it turns out. They won't work. The ninety degree angle of the soft plume would "squirt" on to the runner floor. So I plan to buy the annular discharge nozzle. Which will shoot directly into the base plate at a slight angle.

Due to the Close Proximity of the Outgoing Ports, a AN Fitting will not be possible. Looks like either Hard Lines or Nylon. If someone has run both a Nylon line and a Steel line, please chime in as to the "Softening Effect" created by the Nylon line, Please. Thank You

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

I have a shop near my home that makes up braded stainless to suit. They also have the assortment of fittings(Aeroquip distributor). You may have a shop near you. Only teflon racing hose (Aeroquip) can handle pressure. They are highest rated pressure hose (2,500).

I see your proximity comment now. But Areroquip has so many fittings?

I don't belive this is an accurate statement.

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

friend of mine ran the "nozzle" setup on an LS1. its a fogger with adapters that fit underneath the injectors. it uses flexible plastic lines from the noids to the adapters. plastic lines work fine for that because there is no real pressure there. anything from the noids to the tank need to be stout. typical stainless braided rubber hoses are not suitable and will blow apart. (i know from experience, lol)

That is from Aeroquip website. Many their hoses are rated under 1000 psi. Socketless is 250. Starlite/nomex is 350. Braided stainless is 1000 Aero High pressure hose is 1500. Teflon is 2500.

A comment was made N20 needs 1500. My NOS system came with braided stainless hose ends attached.

Re: Nitrous lines/nozzle selection

i think a critical piece with the nitrous is the crimped ends. i had 1 hose leak at an end, and another occasion a fitting spit half the hose out blowing shrapnel everywhere and making a gigantic KABOOOOOM. had everyone in the pit area walking out from their car looking down towards me when that happened. lol

and then it occured to me i was doing something wrong. heh.
