Carbon Fiber IC Piping Tie Bars

I kept popping my intake piping apart on shifts at the track, even with the beaded aluminum pipes, so I did some quick math, and figured that there's over 200 lbs trying to force the intake pipes apart. The silicone couplers are designed to contain pressure, not keep pipes together in tension, so I decided to add tie bars to take the tension load. I could've used aluminum, but carbon fiber is just cool! This is with 1/32" thick rigid carbon fiber, purchased in 1" wide strips.

I machined some 3/8" diameter x 3/8" tall bungs that I tapped with a 10-24 in the lathe, and then TIG welded them onto the intake piping, turbo outlets, and throttlebody hat. The bolt locations were marked on the CF strips, drilled, cut, and the corners rounded. I was going to use black oxide finished screws, but the local fastener company had stainless screws & washers in the right length. Now to get ready for Limerock... The intake piping better not pop apart ending a track session early this time!
