BBSDesigns Turbo Headers; The Last Run

Good News!! For those of you REALLY (cash in hand only) interested, I will be making a last run of turbo headers.

The business now had gone in a totally different direction and I rarely, and only use my jigs for making turbo systems for friends, special requests, or for me (I am not going to sell the jigs so please dont ask). That is the reason why this will be the last run.

This last run will start today and end in 30 days from today June 30th, 2007, so everyone that post in this thread with his or her turbo header request will be included, after that I will not be making more headers or at least for sale. People interested will be writting down their request, then emailing me at bermudezbrainstormingdesigns@hotmail.com with the complete shipping information. I will be accepting Paypal, money orders or checks (no corporative checks). All shipping will take place once the part(s) are built and payment have been cleared. All fabrication will begin after payment has been received and cleared.

I will only be offering headers, sorry no turbos or anything else, just headers. The only headers I will be offering are:

1) Race Single Turbo Header for V belt. For use with V belt setup with or without the A/C. This header is the same as Tim "TurboedTPI" is using on his Turbo Firebird with the serpentine belt setup, but with no A/C. (600+ hp). $500.00 ea.

2) Race Single Turbo Header for Serpentine Belt. For use with serpinte belt setup with or without the A/C. This header is a very tight fit, the cold section of the turbo can't be to large or it will hit the valve cover, we recommend a 60-1 Hi Fi or equivalent turbocharger. (500-550 hp). $500.00 ea.

3) Street & Strip Twin Turbo Headers. For use with both V belt or serpentine belt setups with or without A/C. Twin full TO3 turbos are to be used. The passengers side turbo's wastegate actuator might need (depending on the turbo) to be modified a little to fit and clear the A/C dryer and hard line. (600hp). $900.00 per pair.

4) Race Twin Turbo Headers are not going to be offfered, sorry too time consuming, unless he or she is willing to wait. How long? two to three months. $1600.00 per pair.

Again, for those of you that dont know what kind of quality I work with, well my headers are brutal strong, heavy bastards I use 3/8" thk flanges, 1/8" thick pipes all TIG welded. I am sure that one or two guys here running with my headers will throw something in.
Well, here it is, the last run of the BBSDesigns headers[tear].

PS: You guys have to see the recent Quad Turbo GTA pictures, its... well it looks pretty cool. I also included a collage of pictures so that you can see the different setups. Most pictures are from clients who send me them. There you'll find from turbo V6's to twin turbo V8's Vettes.

Re: BBSDesigns Turbo Headers; The Last Run

Awesome timing! Do the single turbo headers come with a shorty for the opposite side or is that something we have to source? I just spent this paycheck on c6 brake pads so I'll be emailing you next paycheck. What kind of turnaround do you expect? These don't come coated in anyway do they?

The single headers can be used with either the stock driver's side manifold or header if you have one. The stock exhaust pipe comming from the driver's side header or manifold is used to connect to the passengers turbo header, or you can always make a new one at the muffler shop.

That's no joke either, I've never seen such a heavy duty piece in my life! Your single RACE header is the way to go, I love my setup.

Re: BBSDesigns Turbo Headers; The Last Run

Yes, these headers are very beefy. I've been running mine for over 3 yrs now, not one problem. Anyways, BBS, my brother is doing a very simular setup as mine, can u you make the same header i have but with out the wastegate tube on the front? We are going to decide where we are puting the wastegate once the header and turbo are on the car, so you wont have to put any waste gate flange on or nothing. Let me know buddy. Thanks

-Tim

p.s. this car will be even more impressive that mine (we hope) GT-42 turbo

So for the single turbo headers, is it just the header on the side holding the turbo or another header to come over and connect with it?

Hey BBS, is it possible for me to call you and talk to you for a few minutes about doing a set of twin headers? I have a few questions I need answered before I can shell out my hard earned money.

Hello vwdave;
I got your message, but the thing is that the headers I got for twin turbo will only fit on full TO3's (no TO3/TO4 hybrids) with the A/C. You might get the headers and maybe hack up a little the valve covers or modifiying the A/C lines, and might be more to that, but I really havent made the attempt. The turbos will clear the hood, but I always say that you'll need heat shielding for everything that you can put to, the more the better.

TurboedTPI;
Yes, I can make you the header without the wastegate flange.

Starfish;
The price is for one header only, you need to use the current header or manifold in the driver's side if going single turbo. The crossover pipe is new or modified stock, easy thing at a muffler shop.

Re: BBSDesigns Turbo Headers; The Last Run

BBS:

I'm in for 2 sets.

I need to know how big of a turbo can you put on the passenger side before you run out of room valve cover wise and strut tower wise? I want to run either a t-76gts or t-88 both on a t-4 flange. Can you raise the turbo location up maybe a half-inch or an inch so that I can run a bigger turbo without clearance issues?

Can you make the single headers with a t-6 flange if necessary?

Also, my afr head exhaust ports are matched to a fel-pro 1406 d-port gasket and I had to have my header ports opened up to match. Do you have a bigger flange opening than stock available?

1) Race Single Turbo Header for V belt. For use with V belt setup with or without the A/C. This header is the same as Tim "TurboedTPI" is using on his Turbo Firebird with the serpentine belt setup, but with no A/C. (600+ hp). $500.00 ea.

this is gonna sound stupid but, 500 for both both manifolds, or 500 bucks for each one

It's a single turbo setup, there is only one turbo manifold.

You reuse your stock drivers side manifold or header.

In a thirdgen, both are impossible to mount where BBS mounts the turbo between the valve cover and hood. You need a custom setup for anything with a T6 flange or 76mm+ comp. housing (with a larger A/R). A T6 sized unit or one with a 76mm+ inducer make the 62-1 turbo look tiny.

I think BBS explicitly states that the 62mm unit with the comp. xx A/R is the max. size to fit using the single manifold.

I mounted my brothers GT-42r on my car. It fits. Its tight, but it will def work. A GT-42r is around the size of a 76mm.

Re: BBSDesigns Turbo Headers; The Last Run

The height of the GT42 depends on the turbine A/R and flange. Is it a T6/diesel flange or a T4 flange. I am guessing that it is T4. Also, the GT42 has a relatively small comp. A/R compared to a Garrett T-series with an equiv. comp. inducer wheel. A 76mm and bigger T-series has a .95 A/R large comp. housing.....that what I was thinking of.

Overall, I was wrong. But keep in mind what size A/R the comp. housing is. Can you get a 3.5" pipe (GT42 correct size) to the comp. outlet of the GT42R in a realistic way? Was the comp. housing turned so the A/R by the valve cover was at a minimum?

Aren't the garrett GT42-76's physically larger than a turbonetics t-76? I wondered about the heat of the turbo sitting close to the hood and possibly melting the hood and getting the valve cover hot. Might have to run a cowl hood.

Thanks for the info.

The GT-42r is way bigger than my 62-1, im not sure how big a t76 turbonetics is. But the inlet to the GT-42 is 5in. It literaly dwarfs my turbo. It is a t-4 turbine with a 1.01 a/r

Re: BBSDesigns Turbo Headers; The Last Run

Okay, I said I would stop posting, but I just wanted to say that the GT42 that will fit will push enough air for 800+ HP on BBS' header. I don't own one of his headers but the pics show it is a good design. The materials he uses are excellent.
No, I have nothing to do with BBS, but have been around the turbo boards for a while.

Any idea which one, if any, would stand a chance fitting on an LT1? (single turbo)

I'm a little confused... I have a serpentine belt setup. and would like to keep my ac...So do I have to go with a v belt setup to keep ac and run your kit or do you make a kit for serpentine belt system and ac.....If so what kind of extra work needs to be done to keep ac......

Yes, unfortunately I have to stop making headers and get my hands full in my new business. I am making this last run because I always receive emails from people asking me for headers, even when I stopped making them a while ago. So I thought about it and decided to make this last run for orders that enter (payment received)no later than June 30th. Why June 30th? Well, I really dont have time to make headers anymore, so until June 30th all orders that enter will start fabrication all at once.

For all of you interested the address is:

PO Box 11803 San Juan, P.R. 00922-1803

Official time for fabrication will start just after June 30th. Orders will be made in the order they come in. Al Lipper from Illinois is the first to receive his turbo header. Fabrication for each piece is about 3-5 days. Most quotes for shipping are $30.00 for Parcel Post and $58.00 for Priority Mail for the US main land. Alaska and Hawaii are not included. All other countries should email for a shipping quote.

If I remeber well the only difference are the heart shaped exhaust ports, everything else is just right on.

Important; the headers are designed to fit on a 3rd gen, never tried by myself on a 4th gen.

Ok, You have two alternatives to run turbo and with A/C with you serpentine belt setup;

#1 keep your serpentine belt setup and get the street & strip twin turbo header kit.
#2 Change to V belt and get the race single turbo header kit. Remember that you need to swap the entire belt setup including the water pump.

Re: BBSDesigns Turbo Headers; The Last Run

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!! Please Read:

If sending a money order or check, please make it payable to Edgardo Bermudez, not BBSDesigns. The thing is that I closed that bank account so I might not be able to cash out checks or money orders.

Also if using Paypal I will have to add a fee for that since they will take money from me, about $30.00 fee for every $1200.00 hence $15.00 fee for every $600.00 more or less.

Thanks

BBS had a website up a couple years ago but opted to drop the website when he stopped making headers full-time. As far as orders.. it looks like he has at least a couple in the works (myself being one of them).
