Oil control - vaccuum suction, exhaust bungs...
Hey guys (GMI_Fast in particular),
While daydreaming here at work, I read one of GMI's posts about his rice car components being "oil control" stuff... I've been having problems of oil blowby going through the breathers and onto the valve covers (yeah, I know, rings are probably pretty worn, and I need a new engine, but in the meantime...) What I've been thinking of doing is either a vacuum pump from a diesel engine hooked up to the valve covers and sucking through a separator (which drains down to the pan) or one of the exhaust bungs that creates suction as air moves by. Have any of you done that yet?
Andris, with wastegates, dump tubes, blow off valves, and eight 4" diameter cylinders
PS-I've got a Canton road race oilpan, with windage tray, 3 trap doors, etc...

I made one that worked rather well out of my old smog pump. If you want a cheap way just to try it out, or for a temporary help, that might be one option. I didn't have an oil sep. though...made a mess.

I have a good idea for that very problem.
I was working on a 4th gen trans am and noticed they use an electric powered smog pump it actually looks like a little super charger. And I pulled off the intake side of it and it pulls a really strong vacume! prolly like 5inches I would say and a large volume of air also it has a3/4 inch or so in let on it .
I have the same prob , blowing the occasinal dreded oil. that would solve all our probs! when I find out a part # I will let you guys know!

Andris, mine does the same thing. i tried to use regular breathers but it got too oily on the valve covers. i put the "PCV" style breathers back on until i can figure out a better solution. what about using the PCV style with a "catch can" mounted somewhere? i think i saw one on a turbo buick in a magazine once...
