It's alive! (but I killed it real quick)
Hey guys,
I finally got the Z back on the road again! (3 month long Street Twin clutch install). I took it to the track about 12 hours after it was running with some interesting results (13.4@113.9) This is with a super conservative timing and fuel map. I was still getting 20 deg of knock retard the last time I checked the DFI, even with a base timing of 10 deg with 20deg max dialed onto the timing map. I'm ready to unplug the knock sensor (retarding the timing doesn't reduce the knock) and see what happens.

How'd you finally make out with the Street Twin? Happy with it?

I'm happy with it. The cost is obscene, but it's the only game out there for the OEM T56. It was very on/off for the first 50 miles, and got more progressive. The T56 with a 3.08 rear doesn't help the big time bog off the line. It felt like a regular T56 clutch once it was broken in, probably due to the same T56 pressure plate being used. I guess we should continue this in drivetrains if we want to be proper

Andris, if all goes well this weekend, mine should be alive too after a long hibernation! (keeping fingers crossed)

Andris,
If you should happen to find something with your timing problem, could you shoot it my way. I've recently noticed I'm getting a lot of retard from my DFI. I thought I fixed it by replacing the knock sensor, but it was back the next day. Why, I have no idea. If I find anything, I'll let you know.

Sorry I am a little late in posting this but I want to wish you good luck. Hopefully I can get started on my ATI procharged 335 project soon. As soon as you take her out again get her and get any bugs out get her dynoed and post the results. I am very curious. I always like to see people who like to do something a little different. Wish I had the $ to take your route. Saw your intercooler pics. Question: Have you had any problems with the nose of the car with the center piece cut out for the intercooler.
