Anyone see this?? Any thoughts on it? Think it will really make 450hp without it being intercooled??

BBSD seems like a very good company. A lot of people on here have bought and used his products with good results, and he is there to support you after the sale. I think the turbo kit looks like a very good deal for $1500. The turbo he supplies should support up to 350hp no problem. You will need engine upgrades and defenitely fuel system mods to make anywhere near theat power though. And you better add an intercooler, or at least alky injection above 250 or so HP. 450hp out of the 60° V6 will take some serious work. I have a 3.4 powered Z24 running 10psi of turbo boost, so I know from experience. It has run a best 1/4 of 12.59 at 114.77MPH, which should put it around 300-325hp at the crank.

I do disagreee with him in that I would not recommend installing the turbo system without any fuel system mods. For even moderate performance gains you will need axtra fuel for the car to run propely and be reliable. AN FMU/RRFPR is the easiest solution, but limits you to around 10psi of boost. Above that, you will need a custom tuned prom, bigger injectors, and more.

I don't know where the 450hp number you stated came from, but assuming that is your goal, I would plan to do at least pistons. I'm not too familiar with the 60° V6s, but I believe thier rods are pretty strong from the factory. You can put small journal SBC rods in with some machine work and custom pistons that acept the wrist pin diameter.

I would start with a lower, more attainable HP goal, such as 250hp. Thats more than a stock L98 and will really make the light 6 banger car pretty fast. My Z24 only ways 3,000 with me in it, so it is much easier to go fast. Your F-body will probably come in around 3400 (just a guess, I never weighed a 6 cyl f-body, but my IROC weighs 3700 with me in it).

Start at low boost and work up as your budget and skills allow. Believe me, 6psi of turbo will really feel fun. 10psi is even better; and you will quickly learn that boost is addictive. Just make sure your tune (AFR and timing) stays on the safe side or you can seriously damage your engine before you know what happened.

I'm sure someone has. I have not. There are pictures of installs on his site. He does a nice job, but a turbo install is still not for those mechanically un-inclined.

The price for the kit is amazing for what you get. I'm 99% sure i'm going with there TT kit.

The horsepower numbers he quotes are what the kit can support, not what it will make on a stock engine. It would most likely need intercooling, water/alky injection, or race gas to make that, yes.

That T3/T04E 60 trim will support 500+ at the crank without a problem. Getting the V6 there will take more work.

For comparison, the turbo my Talon has is almost the same. It has the same turbine side, but a smaller compressor side (older T04B housing and V1/V2 wheel), and I've ran an 11.9 and 117.7 mph with a 3180lb race weight and ~1.75 60's.
An Eclipse made 503 all wheel horsepower with a T04E 50 trim (slightly smaller than a 60, but slightly more efficient), same turbine side. That was max'd out, but he did it. This same size turbo goes on my Talon next week. BTW, the (.63a/r, stg III) turbine side on my Talon flows plenty up to 7500 on the 2 liter, and could go higher (around 8000) with other matched parts, before it starts becoming a real restriction. Adjust accordingly for the V6 displacement and VE, no problem I think.

I have a BBSDesigns street/strip TT kit that's still yet to be installed, but will be when I get out of the Navy and get back home in September (and everyone is sick of hearing that, me most of all! heh), and for now I can at least vouch for 100% awesome customer service, and very thick headers, heh. The quality is great, though there are a few minor things that I had to change so far. No big deal.

I'd really like to see this V6 kit, intercooled, on a 3.4 swapped F-body, better yet with low compression. 89JYturbo is right in that it would be pretty quick with the light weight of the V6 compared with an iron SBC.
And you'd spank LS1's with a non-TTA, V6 thirdgen, hehe.

It's been a while since I dont hear from you, still the kit in the boxes!! you need to get that thing rolling!



As a matter of fact we a have a local customer with the same swap, running a carbed 3.4L and the kit, I will try to get some video and pictures from his ride and post them. The only thing is that he is a bit far away from where we are located so it might take some time to get in touch with him and make the arrangements. One thing is true, it surely will be much more powerfull than the pitty Camaro we used for the project.

Hi! I know, I don't get on here terribly much, it's a busy life.
The car is 1500 miles away right now, with the TT kit and my full intercooler setup plus extras, sitting right next to it. I will have a whole month free after I get home though, and that's what I'm using it for, heh.
Hey, at least I got the valve covers installed already.

It'll be cool to hear about the carb'd 3.4 setup!
I almost want to pick up a cheap V6 RS and do a 3400 swap with this kit, then I can have a turbo 4, 6, and 8. Gotta get the 8 going first, though.

Drat, should've kept the '87 beater Firebird, could've had a lot of fun boosting it. My only concern would be to intercool it and feed it cooler air - the air filter looks like it's sucking all sorts of hot air. But hey - GREAT idea, glad that it's around now!
