DS turbo manifold finished
Well after spending a few more hours in the garage than on the sofa itīs finished. Itīs been a lot more work than I expected and Iīm not fully satisfied. But then again, itīs my first time welding.
Pictures can be found here:

For more info about the project, go here:

One manifold down , another one to go....
PS! Some of the pictures are linked to another server which are having some trouble right now. So pictures might be unavailable for a few hours at a time.

Looks good, but.... your going to need to cut a scallop between #1 and #3 ports to clear the coolent sensor in the head. BW

Iīm glad you asked, a 3" downpipe will fit nice. Hereīs a picture to prove it:

Itīll be a little tight for the sparkplug wires but it can be done.
A lot of thought has gone into the cylinder 7īs pipe, just to be sure a good sized downpipe can be used.
For a complete set of pictures of my exhaust project:

Iīm going to cut the headflange into 3 pieces so the temp.sensor wonīt be a problem. It was easier to build the header with one big flange than three short ones. I want to remove the "extra" flange material so it wonīt weight as much, but Iīll first mill the surface flat..

Well itīll be a little bit tight for the cyl 5 and cyl 7 when the downpipe is installed but besides that there is no problem at all reaching the plugs. Itīs actually easier to get to them with the turboheaders than with the Edelbrock 1 5/8 headers I had before, a lot easier.
As can be seen on this picture:

Only cylinder 5īs pipe is going under the head flange. but thereīs plenty of room for a plugwrench anyway. Iīm quite surprised over how much room there is, but then again, the manifold is quite wide and builds towards the master brake cylinder, hereīs a pic that shows the sparkplug clearance:

Tomorrow they will replace the server where my pictures are stored so itīll probably be offline for a day or two, Iīm sorry.

Thanks Guido, I really appreciate your comments. Due to the lack of a garage during the last two years I have been thinking about these manifolds at least a thousand times before I started to construct them.
But even though I had decided how to do it I had to change the plans slightly after buying the bends. But I'm quite pleased with the design.
Hopefully the plug wires will stay alive if I wrap the headers and make some heat shields, Iīll let you know lateron.
Thanks again, now itīs time to start on the other one.

Looks real nice. Any chance you can run the spark plug wires under the headers than back up towards the back of the engine? That just looks like a tight fit for you wires.

Yes cyl 5 and 7 must be routed from the underside due to the with of the downpipe. It should have been a lot easier going with 2.25" or 2.5".
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
