If you use the classifieds, please read......
We (the mods and admins) are tossing around the idea of breaking up the "Parts for Sale" board into sub-catagories. We are thinking of doing:
Engine/Drivetrain (engines, trannys, rears, etc.)
Interior (seats, plastics, carpet......basically anything INSIDE of a third gen)
Exterior (wheels, fenders, hoods, glass, basically anything OUTSIDE a third gen)
This will be a poll to see how many people would want this. A few members have already stated that they would like it. We know that the parts boards get busy, and new threads get pushed down within a few hours or so.
If you can think of certian catagories that should be added, please post. I do not think we are going to break them down to more then 4 or 5 boards. Maybe an electronic/wiring section.
If you do post in this thread, please keep it mature. I will just delete posts that are not constructive in nature. This is a public poll, and others will see what you vote for. I will run this thread for 7 days, so tell everyone to vote!
GO, GO, GO!!!

It's a great idea, how about:
- Cars for sale
- Cars wanted
- Engine (engine parts, exhaust, fuel system, etc..)
- Transmission and suspensions(tranny, rear end, brakes, suspension parts, wheels, tires, etc)
- Interior and exterior
- Mist

Here's my
I'm not opposed to breaking it into smaller forum divisions, but I don't want to see a whole new format like what Dirk used a few years ago.
I like having the classifieds as part of the message boards. It's a much more efficient, easier system than the method dirk had prior to that, and when I want to do a search for parts it's easier. It's also nice that you can have discussions within the classifieds, unlike the old method. It makes it easier for buyers to ask questions, and it makes it easier for a seller to answer it once in the forum instead of in 50 separate emails. Plus, items of greater interest keep resurfacing instead of getting burried after a couple days. You also avoid repeats because a thread gets a "TTT" instead of having a whole new duplicate ad made every few days.
If you don't want a bunch of classified returns in your search, just do your search in the tech boards instead of the whole forum. Nothing of any technical value is in any of the other forums anyway.

That seems like a good idea to me. Narrows down search time, and it cleans up the board.

I like Z28cross-fire's suggestion. Makes sense and it's simple.
If your taking a poll on that, give it my thumbsup!

I'm all for it. I think it will make it much easier to find what you're looking for.

I like the idea of seperating things.
Also, I'd reeeeeally like to be able search by state.
I hate it when there's a large item 1500 miles away.
The old board, many moons ago, would allow you to search by state.

I like the idea of suspension being added in there too. That could maybe go into the Engine/Drivetrain section to make Engine/Drivetrain/Chassis.
--------------------------------------
Parts For Sale
---------------------------------------
Or it could be a section all by itself.
Parts For Sale
You guys get the idea. I like it being another sub-group by itself.

While I can see people that TTT a thread multiple times a day is excessive, once a day isnt IMO. Though, if you have all the categories split like you're thinking, it might not even be a problem anymore...

camaroz28.com has broken their classified into sections. I thought i would like it, but i dont. I have to click in 5 different places to see whats for sale for today.
I think it would be bad. There are a lot of cars on here that are parted out and have many different catagories thats parts could go in. I'd find it annoying if i had a car to part out and had to post multiple times.

Is it possible to do both? Have a "main parts for sale" catagory and have sub-catagories also. But make it that everything has to be posted in the sub catagories but everything could be displayed in the main and be displayed in sub-catagories.

This is the exact reason I started this poll. We wanted to get input from members that are the ones who USE the classifieds.

Anything happening with this? I see the polls closed, just wondering if anything is being changed or not.

Yes break it down, but personally I would like a division for cars being parted out, so I don't have to list in several sections. Just a suggestion, Gary.

Here's everyone ideas put into one kind of...again.
------------------
Parts For Sale
------------------
Personally I think the parts wanted doesn't need to be seperated, only the parts for sale. If the parts for sale was the only category put into smaller categories it wouldn't be so bad.
------------------
Parts For Sale
- Engine/Drivetrain
- Suspension
- Interior
- Exterior
- Car Part Outs
------------------
