Re: Calling all KIWI'S
I would try to contact Nate. He is in Wellsford and will have a good idea of suppliers local to you.
As for myself I have found it cheaper to import my parts.
I buy a fair bit from ebay and Summit Racing.
The cheapest freight for most things is through youshop an nzpost service. My youshop account has a delivery address in Portland Oregon which allows you to buy from suppliers that only service the US market. NZ post then forwards them to NZ. It generally works out cheaper and less hassle that way.

I'm after some bigger items ie a bonnet/rear bumper which would be a killer on freight from the US and would.no doubt get damaged on the way.

Yes I have used youshop for a few trim bits I brought on eBay was alot cheaper than the freight through the sellers themselves and they consolidated the 5 packages onto one which saved alot more went from $95 freight to $40 .

Just a flat one. Mine has had some sort of vent grafted onto it think its a transam one and it's not the tidiest job. Planning to get the whole car repainted and was going to put a standard bonnet back on. If its going to cost me $1600 I might just get a panel beater to tidy up my one instead.

Hi Jackyl. I'm incline to agree with Loopy. I got a whole heap of stuff in last year before the dollar turned to shyt. But most of the time, if you need something in particular, it's best to just bring it in anyway.

Wife bought this in 2012. now we have Kids and she doesnt have the money to put into it anymore.
Vehicle is Uncomplied but has all the neccessary paperwork to go through compliance ( I have been to Vtnz Timaru and all is in order for it to be complied Paperwork wise)
yes there is rust as you can see the worst of it being under the battery and the same place on the other side the hood panel is rusted beyond repair (have another hood panel that I'm selling separtely)
engine is a 305 chev with crossfire fuel injection which runs and drives fine.
has new front brake calipers and hoses.
trans is a th700r4 4 speed.

Re: Calling all KIWI'S
Hey Geoff Nates & all the Kiwi's in here. Also welcome anyone from around the Globe who are reading this. Nates, i think it's a good idea to bring our Posts here. Should have done it ages ago huh Geoff.
Okay, well i thought i'd like to start with my Intellitronix "Create a Dash" project.
8 months ago i bought them in from the US for $440NZ. I see they're now worth nearly $700NZ for the MPH set.
Okay, i'll now post pics of progression up to where it is currently today 16/04/16.
Stainless Template cutout after removing dash & using dash parts to recreate a backing board & a guage mounting template.
Backing Board now cut out & Circuit Boards Mounted.
Wiring done by Myself.
Now just in the process of wiring to the right wires in the car.
And Wallah
In a few weeks time, it should all be working & wired to the car. I'll post a vid on Youtube with them working, unles the Gearbox swap gets in the way???. Thanks Gabe.

These Guages come with a Analog to Electronic Speed Sensor.
They hook directly to a 700R4, 4L60E?? Electronic VSS or You can buy a Satellite vss. I'm impressed with them.

Hey Guys, Good to hear from You Nats as it's been a while. I've excepted your Friend req Jackyl. Nats, i still have the Vette.
My progress is slow. Just waiting for some bits from Japan for the Supra Box.
I just need a kit to move the Shifter forward about 100mm, then it will be that similar to the T5. Funny i find these things out as i go lol.
Aparently, my R154 box is the same as the 2005 onwards Hilux Box.
Once the fit is done, $1800 for a new R Series box sounds okay i think, but the initial set up will cost me around 5 K.
I'll update when she's on the road & a Youtube vid.
I'm still debating about buying in a "Relocation Crossmember/Torque Arm or make one Myself. I really can't be %u(ed lol. mind You, $700 to land it????.

Hey all how is everyone's cars going? Welcome to the new members good to see more people joining! Sorry Geoff didn't get your PM through Facebook as I don't have Facebook account anymore, progress on my Pontiac have swapped the 750cfm carb for a 600 Holley again using a lot less fuel now lol an I also fitted a new kickdown cable as the old one **** itself was a bitch of a job to change but is running sweet now other than that have been using it as a daily driver.

Re: Calling all KIWI'S
That crossmember/ torque arm for your manual gearbox box Gabe I got one through chucks resto supplies in Auckland they got it from the states it's a BMR brand my one suits t5 manual an the 700r4 it's a multi fit one but that cost me $570 landed at their depot incl gst but like you say making one would be a lot more cost effective an pretty easy to fabricate. How's your Progress on the Camaro going Geoff?

Re: Calling all KIWI'S
It's at a standstill bro.
Got the *** end painted. Engines ready to go in but I decided to build a new auto before sticking it in.
I got some eibach lowering springs and 5 way adjustable shocks as well as ls1 brakes to go in it. Once done it will definitely be a beast.

Re: Calling all KIWI'S
Hi Guys, Greg from Auckland, been a member of this forum for a long time but have not been in here since 2009! Have an 84 Trans Am WS6 HO 5 speed manual which I've had since 1988 and bought of an Air NZ employee that owned it in the US and imported it back to NZ. Started some body work, well a full restore back in about 2004 I'm guessing. Did a little engine work as well, different cam, removed the aircon, moved the battery to the back wheel well, new headers and exhaust and tbh can't remember much else that I did. Done 90% of the work and ran out of energy, time and money. Need to empty the garage of assorted collected toys and get back to it someday although money is still a problem. Need to redo the bonnet as I wasn't happy with it and also need to paint the ground effects and bumpers, the main body is painted, guards painted, would like new rear brakes as the rear discs are hopeless for parking brake and always cause problems. Would like to fit different wheels perhaps as the stocks are 15", maybe I'll just get them cleaned up if I can. Need to replace the windscreen too.
Love driving this car and used to work in Wellington for 4 years and commute every 2nd weekend back to Auckland at night when the roads were quiet, these were my favorite drives in the TA back when petrol was 80c litre.
TBH should have sold this car way back as I lost interest, however been watching some car reno programs on Sky and started to get interested again.

My door handles are good don't rattle, I had a couple of door pins made to remove slop which worked well, my rattles come from the rear disc pads which are really annoying.

COOL x two
Shes looking good!, arent these fantastic cars alot of fun, being a 57 year old hoon finally being able to afford and run a 350 ci v8. I can see my IROC being a family heirloom (or my kiwi saver lol, sorry Kiwi joke) they handle well on our lovely Kiwi roads (another kiwi joke) the size of the sway bar and that Iroc suspension make it sit so nicely on the road with no body roll and Oh My God the sound of that V8 (no need for viagra here lol) ya cant help but keep putting ya foot down around town at the lights which is hell on the mpg but i didnt buy it to save the planet plus you dont see alot of these around NZ.thousands of Mustangs (like a Harley everyones got one) but not alot of these 3rd gen Camaros

Yeah fuel dont matter when the engine music is so tasty.
Heres a pic under my bonnet....
350 vortec with scat rods , comp billet roller cam , roller rockers, and Holley sniper TBI.
Currently off the road as I think I've done a head gasket!

Hey just thought I'd chime in....been eons since last time I was here haha
My 84 WS6 I've had since January 2017, bought new in Fort Wayne, Indiana, came to NZ 1988.
All stock apart from shift-kit, cat delete/headers/exhaust. 305/700R4/3.23LSD
Was bare-metalled in 2010 in original Dark Royal Blue metallic with a subtle pearl put through it, and no "fade-out" graphics along the lower sides.

Cheers bro im looking around 4 a LS3 2 put in mine was going with a worked 350 and turbo been talked out of that but the more i read up on LS con'' the more im heading back 2 the 350 old school. Was going to paint it soon i need a rubber kit but the $ sucks and freight.

Re: Calling all KIWI'S
yea you're not wrong with the freight and the exchange rate is a killer,i tend to collect me self a wish list over the months then get it all in one go and if you use amazon they can combine the freight which definitely helps, ive got the 350 fuel injected motor in camaro like you say pretty bullet proof but man do those yanks love to run them hot (98 deg c) which dosent look good on the after market gauge cos it basically runs in the red

Hey guys I’m back! Sorry Geoff an Gabe haven’t been in contact for a long time not having Facebook hasn’t helped ,the old Pontiac has been on the back burner for while I still have it brought a property changed jobs an now im heavy diesel mechanic! I pulled the motor out over Xmas break an changed out the frost plugs as they had let go! Put it all back together an then parked it up but hoping to get it back on road again soon!
