repair shops in washington

Help I need referral for a shop in seattle area that knows what they are doing with my 89' Pontiac Firebird.
I have spent a fortune on repair for exhaust emissons and thought we had it fixed
I feel they are applying a bandage to placate me/female/ instead of fixing the problem and charging me.
Any help would be appreciated....

Email Fastzhawk@hpiv.net & I am sure he will get it out to someone who knows.

If you lived down By Olympia I would say Bernie's Custom paint. The only place I will take my cars to.

They did my husbands 95 Zhawk & did all the repair work on my & my husbands 00 GTP when the portable garage fell on it this last Jan.

If you are just doing the repairs to pass emissions, you can get a waiver if the repair amount exceeds a certain amount. For my '91 RS, I think it is $200. Check it out at your local emissions testing station.

Body work is not one of our specialties. Even more so when there are over 24 points of impact.

Still trying to figure out why the original poster needs a body shop to help pass emissions.

An 89 doesn't need to be emission tested until next year unless you just bought it.

I read on one of the emission posts that after failing. You can go around to the office of the emissions place and the person inside can give you an idea of what is probably wrong.

Depending on the year of the car, you are limited to a cost of $150 or $200 by a approved emission repair shop. If you meet or exceed that value, you can apply for a waiver.

Poke around here http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/air/c...tive_pages.htm
For info.

You may want to post your numbers in the tech engine section and ask for advice. Even if you don't want to fix it yourself, you will have knowledge of what might be wrong. Knowledge is your best protection against untrustworthy mechanics.

If I can't or won't fix the car myself, I usually go pay thru the nose at a dealership. I figure they will be less likely to screw me over because I might come back and buy a new car. I believe they have more to lose. I've had good luck with the chevy dealership in Dallas. I live in kent now and haven't required any repairs locallly.
