UMI AutoCross event July 24-25 in P.A.
Who here will be attending the UMI Performance AutoCross event in two weeks ?
I went last year and had a blast. I know I saw Val there, and a few other thirdgens. I think Matt (garage engineer) and Gary H, might be going.
Should be a fun event. I will be there.

nice guys! awesome! i remember seeing that 1LE car there last year. I checked it out but didnt get to chat with anyone nearby it at the time.
Matt, I have been following your build. I know you are getting some of the remaining items checked off and still have to get several hundred miles on the car to break it all in. best of luck man, I do hope to see ya again since its been a few years and both of our cars are drastically different.
I looked at the event registration page and it looks liek there are 116 registered competitors. There are about 8-10 third gens. nice!
For me, since I "finished" the build back in March I have been working on dialing the holley sniper EFI in, and getting the car situated at some drag racing test&tune sessions. I did get to one autocross (last weekend, photos below) to see how the new engine/converer worked. I smoked my brand new power steering pump mid-way through the autoX day, so I am glad it happened then, instead of at the UMI event during day 1 for example. So this week I have to remove the pump, and ship it out for a replacement. I will be installing a large power steering fluid cooler too in order to prevent the new one from getting too hot.
-I wish I had the $ to afford a new set of tires. I have difficult getting my Nitto 555 street tires to stick on the autocross, and the power level of the engine can blaze the rear tires pretty easily. Was looking into a set of the Falken Azenis 615+k's but that is about $950 for all 4 tires. I still have some tread left on my Nittos, so I am just going to keep those on the car for this year and upgrade the tires for next year. So I will be doing my best with what I have.

My buddy has since sold that 91 1LE and upgraded to a 2013 1LE. My build is not as extreme as both of yours. It just has a mild 305 and some UMI parts thrown on it for now. Weight jacks are coming after this event and some more suspension bits. looking forward to beating on my own car not someone else's.

Re: UMI AutoCross event July 24-25 in P.A.
I wrote up a long recap of my personal account of the weekend, and that is in my thread here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...install-3.html (see post #118 on the current last page)
There were some New Jersey guys and a bunch of people from here on ThirdGen.org. Was cool to see that many impressive 3rd gens! I hungout with a bunch of people I knew from previous events and saw a ton of awesome cars and drivers thrashing on their cars. IT was a hell of a time.
Here is a link to my photo album which contains 184 photos and 16 videos:
And some quick highlight photos:
event winners car:
I am trying to compile my video clips into a single video for easier viewing, but I am having some difficulty with windows movie maker "not responding" when i go to save it. I hope to get this worked out soon.
However, in the coming days there will be plenty of event photos, videos, and recaps on the UMI websites and other media outlets. I will post those links on here as I come across them.
In case I miss something... If anyone else has any cool media or links, feel free to post it all up here!

hoping to find more event photos. tried a bunch of the normal web pages, but not much media coverage (photos or videos). haven't seen a highlight/re-cap video either. bummer.

I'm sure UMI is working on it. I didn't really take that many pics. I was to busy watching my buddy's runs. We were all in different groups. And we had one of our group break a power steering pump on his 4th gen. So we had to change that out. I think there will be more after the KOTM runs next weekend. Like Ryan said they didn't want any video's or group pics posted jeopardizing the KOTM event.

a few friends informed me that UMI uploaded a whole lot of photos on their facebook page. awesome. they are well worth the wait! it is going to take me a long long time to save all 800+ photos to my hard-drive!
click an enjoy
here are some of my car, but I will leave it to other people to post pics of their own car if they choose to do so.
my favorite one is definitely me crushing 2 cones and off into the grass/mud. awesome!

Well, you found the edge of the traction circle, right? Got find it somehow. Cones are a pretty friendly surface after all...that's why I always like autoX...very safe for you and your car.

yup. ! exactly.
I spent a lot of the 2 day UMI event sliding around. knew I needed better tires before the event, but I didn't have the budget.
many of the autoX events I have done, I have spun out on the last lap....literally just pushing the tires/suspension beyond their limit, ...in order to find the limit, so I could dial it back just a little bit.
