Stand alone fuel cell for nitrous
Working on my Nitrous system for this year. I bought the RCI 1 gallon aluminum fuel cell from www.summitracing.com, I am playing with different ideas/locations for mounting it:
I am not really seeing a way to do this without cutting out the battery tray or the charcoal canister tray, curious if anyone has done a setup like this without cutting one of these trays out? Once I add a 180* fitting to the rollover vent, I really think it won't clear the hood as is.
Any thoughts or pics of what you have done?

The 180* fitting should clear the hood with no problems.

Re: Stand alone fuel cell for nitrous
Well here is what I wound up doing, I am pretty happy with this so far, and it is a work in progress so I will keep posting pics. Next I plan to clean up my cuts and paint:
Other issue: Too close to Inner Fender
Decided to section this to get the cell moved further from the inner fender, and to get a little more hood to cell clearance:
After trimming:
It then became apparent the cell needed to be scooted a bit to the passenger side, but I couldn't:
Thus this area needed to be clearanced:
Now I have plenty of clearance:
And enough clearance to fit the Holley Blue Pump on the side of it!:

Re: Stand alone fuel cell for nitrous
Thanks! So here is a how much clearance I picked up, I ordered a -8 AN 120* hose end, I am hoping it will fit perfectly and run the line back to the pump, we'll see it's going to be tight :
And here is where it is at now, I got my 180* -8AN fitting for the rollover vent. Waiting on more parts all week to finish.

Re: Stand alone fuel cell for nitrous
Thank you for the advice, so my last system I ran a return style regulator on. This system I was thinking about running dead headed, the people on yellowbullet seem to be fans of that. They flow the system open to get an accurate fuel pressure reading, then lock the regulator down. Are you opposed to this method?

Re: Stand alone fuel cell for nitrous
my setup is kinda goofy. i have a 1 gallon cell with an in tank walbro pump. it feeds into the side of a regulator mounted on the side of the cell. bottom of regulator dumps back into the side of the cell. when turned on, it just sits there and circulates fuel at 25psi. i then run lines from the side mounted regulator to my holley dead head regulators up on the motor, and set flowing pressure on each regulator using a .072" jet or something like that. i turned both stages on with big jets at the same time to verify it could keep up and it did. when testing, i can blast the fuel back into the cell with the cap removed.

I ran nitrous in my old car, only 2 passes and I wound up building a N/A motor and selling the kit.
Any tips for me? I will be running 100 or 110 octane in the cell, and spray a 100 or 125 shot.
Motor is the stock L98 shortblock, with an LT4 cam and Vortec heads. N/A it went 13.1 @ 104.9 at the end of last season. Shortblock has 95k miles, but still runs well and doesn't smoke.

I bought the nx stand alone kit and it was pretty easy to get set up.

Re: Stand alone fuel cell for nitrous
That looks great, I liked that setup, just a little too much $$$ for my budget.
I am plugging away at this, trying to keep it clean. Had to use a 120* -8AN hose end to clear the inner fender:
Found a Mallory regulator on CL:

I am ordering the rest of my fittings today, I should have this thing finished up when I got back from vacation .

Re: Stand alone fuel cell for nitrous
I wound up redoing the entire project. After ordering/receiving the rest of my fittings, I found that one of the 180* fittings on top of the cell would touch the hood . Since the cell is bottomed out, the only way I could get more clearance was to cut the pan out.
This is what I came up with:
The fuel pump is now mounted directly below the cell, and above the lower plastics. I am still happy with the install, but disappointed I had to cut the hole.
I also wound up buying a Zex purge and installing it over the weekend, tonight I will be wiring my nitrous system, purge, and fuel pump .
