chasing a problem

I was out driving the firechicken a month ago and have had some problems since the drive. The problem started after a tire burner. Mid way through the burnout the car lost power almost like it dropped a cylinder and then hooked up.usually this car will spin untill I get out of it. As I pulled to a stop I noticed at least a 300 rpm drop from normal. No weird noises, puffs, bangs, or rattles. Car has felt low on power since.

Since the initial problem I have changed plugs, checked all wires, inspected and run valves. Checked initial timing and temped headers. The only odd thing I have run into that I felt was was a little off was the header temp. Number 3 and 7 seemed a little cold. Num 3 got to 120 ish and number 7 only got to 100 ish. All other cylinders were 200 to 300 degrees.

My next check is going to be a compression test and then to clean and inspect the carb.. any ideas would be great ad this is really starting to frustrate me. Thanks guys.

Re: chasing a problem

I would do the compression test and see how the cylinders compare to each other.

Re: chasing a problem

Along with the compression test do a leak down test.

Re: chasing a problem

you can also pull your valve covers and check for bent push rods, like on the intake valve in #7 cylinder.

Re: chasing a problem

Interesting. I wonder how that happened? Any chance of getting warranty on it?
