Dallas Raceway closed
Just got this as an IHRA email. It must have been a sudden decision. They're looking for an alternate location for a Summit Pro-am race that was scheduled for May 17-19
NORWALK, Ohio (April 29, 2013) – Dallas Raceway in Crandall, Texas will be closing its doors and ceasing operation by May 7, the track announced on Thursday.

Re: Dallas Raceway closed
That is absolute bull. Hate to hear any local tracks closing. Even though it is pretty far I still make the drive every now and then.

Re: Dallas Raceway closed
I didn't quote the entire email. I'm sure the full story is on IHRA.com
We lost our local track when the city took the leased land back. We had a full race facility with 1/4 mile dragstrip, 2 mile road course and 1/2 mile high banked paved oval all within the city limits of a city with over a million people. There was nothing the owner could do. The land was leased from the city and the city wanted it back for expansion. Now to get a new facility somewhere close to the city it's always the "not in my back yard" attitude.
I have no idea what the situation with Dallas is about but something must be up if a major track closes suddenly as a season is just starting.

Re: Dallas Raceway closed
Guess the owner is to upset to post the news, I would be.
There is lots of stuff about them closing January last year but I guess that did not happen.
