Without digging out my 1971 magazines, I have a book that says a 1970 SS 454 Monte Carlo with a 2.73 rear gear, ran a 16.2 at 90.1 mph, 0-60 took 7.7 seconds and the top speed was 132 mph (Car Life, February 1970).
The 1971 version would be very similar with a lot depending on the gearing.
Note that this car was the 360 h.p. version (cast iron intake). One of the very rare 425 horse engines (aluminum intake) would be somewhat faster, probably high 14s in the quarter.
However, one of those cars is worth so much (compared to the base 454), the owner probably wouldn't be brave (or stupid) enough to have it on the street.

If your still looking for numbers, I had a '70 454 Monte Carlo. This misfit came w/ an LS6 454, I believe that was the 450hp version. but also had high 2.something rear gears. maybe 2.75 or so. Street tire e.t.'s were horrible. No traction at all. had to launch at idle and walk it out about 150 feet, then hammer it and it still spun the tires. e.t.'s hi 14's 90+ mph. Added 8" slicks 28" diameter. went 13.5"s. New intake, headers, big cam, 750cfm Holley, and went 12.2 @ 110. going thru the lights in 2nd gear. good gears should have put it solidly in the 11's.or better.

I forgot to tell you yours is probably an LS5 motor. That was the economy version, 365 hp square port heads etc. Mine was a mistake according to the regional g.m. rep.

yeah- its not actually mine, l was just kind of curious my brother was looking in to one, but youre right it was the 365 HP version, we decided against the monte because of cosmetic reasons, real nice on the outside nasty under the hood. l was just wondering if my camaro would spank it in the 1/4 l've heard good and bad things about them, but now he's looking at a 70 coronet 500 440 thanks for the responses again
