What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
Well it's that time of the year again. Time to start a new thread to find out what kind of goal you intend to set for the 2012 racing season. Make it something obtainable.
Setting new personal bests? Winning an event? Making it through the season without breaking anything? Making it out to at least one race?
My only goal this year is to make it to as many races as possible. Since we no longer have a local track, all my races are now going to be out of town so road trip expenses may limit the amount of events I'll attend. My only performance goal is to get that 8 second timeslip just like last year. Since every out of town track is at a lower elevation than what our local one was, it should be obtainable this year.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
well, last year was an absolute blast for me. my goal was to win one race, and be competitive otherwise in the 10.90 index class at the local level. i did way more than that. i managed to win 3 events, runner'd up at several, and brought home a 2nd place overall finish for the season in that class. i was also able to hit up a 7.00 index race at which we ran on a .400 pro tree, and managed to stay in 3 rounds (which is saying a lot, the 7.00 index racing is huge down here, and they have some no kidding heavy hitters that run those classes).
this season, my main goal is to make the Dean's List again at school. as a result i'm going to focus more on 1/8th mile bracket racing. the 10.90 index was fun last year, but i won't have as much time to run a full series like i did last year. the local brackets have a lot of cars too, so i'm hoping to have more rounds of racing compared to the 10.90 index class since that class is light on cars count. my goal this year is similar to last year: be as competitive as possible, and have the local class hero's realize that they have a reason to stay alert if they run me. (not trying to sound cocky, just confident.) the ET goals this year are to dial in the 6.8x range all year, and i'd like to make at least one pass in the 10.6x range in the full 1320.

I ran myself ragged last year. Can't complain a whole lot about the results - 13 trophies plus 3 post-season trophies; 5 race wins; represented the track at the NHRA Div V ET finals including the Sportsman ET Race of Champions. But, Saturday races were a killer - at the track at 8 a.m., rarely left before 6 p.m., some went to the midnight curfew. And, I didn't do that well in the Saturday series over the season.
This year I'm going to cut out the Saturday ET race series entirely. I'll run Friday ET series in 2 classes, and a club series. Still hope to make the track's Div V Finals team. May run the stick shift car again, but that car is sounding more and more like it wants some serious attention. I'm going to sacrifice a little play time this year to concentrate on the business my wife & I are working that should allow us to retire in a couple of years - then I'll be able to play as much as I want!

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
Get my sled up and running this year since I will be back in PA permanently so I'll have TONS more time to play. New setup is gonna be stout. Hope to have no bugs this year, work the tune well, and see 150+ mph trap speeds regularly, even tho I'm not tech'd for it.
Would love to see an 8.99 but may need to wait for a rear end and trans brake. I'd be very happy just to take it out to various races and events to enjoy the car. Hope to see over 2K miles this year on the street.

Last year was the first time in 10 years I didn't make a single pass in my car. Broke some stuff up at the end of 2010, then moved from MD to NC. Busy with new job, new house etc. and had to put it on the back burner. Getting parts together for all new everything this year. Motor, heads, LS1 ecm on a gen 1, th400, 9 inch, cage..... I'll be happy if I can just get to the track this year lol

To be happy with the tune hopefully the lc1 and ssi4 will help with than and to make it to the track at least once.

I am too. Obviously using efi connections 24x setup. The goal is AFR's new 210's, 383ish ci, kinda torn on ls1 firing order cam or gen 1, $850 from AI, but def something in the 250 duration and .650-.680 lift, 12:1 on e85 with my miniram. I've got my work cut out however and like I said, I'll be happy to get out by the end of the season.

Lets hope I can get my car back together to at least have some sort of season. My new block should arrive this week. Then it needs to be machined, assembled and put into the car. Race season is 3 months away and I still doubt I'll be on track before the end of June.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
My goal is to get all of the bugs worked out of the LS combo and get it to run to its potential. I installed a new fuel pump after last season to hopefully fix the fuel starvation issues. I took the converter out and had it adjusted, it was way too loose. I also want to make more runs, last year I only made about 12 passes total between my work schedule, bad weather and the issues I had with the car.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
850 for a firing order swap cam??? I know guys who will do that for much less but there really isnt any benefit. I looked into this and all the cam grinders said powerwise it really isnt worth anything. Sound wise, it may change your engine sound abit but thats about it. Certainly not worth 850
I'm just doing it to be a little different. I know it won't do anything powerwise. If I could find the right deal, its a definite. I'm just interested in the results.I haven't really heard of too many people with the ls pcm. I know theres some out there, but haven't seen results posted here.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
Hoping to beat my all time best of 14.2@92mph next season. Might even have some 14.0x in her. Lots of changes going on here along with trying out a buddies converter that is much looser. Tossing out the corbeaus and putting in kirkeys to save a bunch of weight as well. Got a drag bar to try out as well, car left even last year, we'll see if it helps or not.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
My first goal is to be able to drive the car more. Last year I was working 7 days a week and wasn't able to get the new tune with E85 running the way I wanted till mid summer. Also pushing to crack into the 10's N/A and still be able to autocross and street drive the car. Last summer my best was an 11.3 et. This winter I am changing out the cam, new wheels and slicks, and a bunch of odds and ends. Also want to go from my 850 to a 1000cfm carb.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
I've really only driven my car about 150 miles since the LS1/T56 swap due to winter, but I'd like to get the stock LS engine and suspension as dialed in as I can and just see what I can run. I'd be thrilled with a 12.50 or better, which I think is absolutely feasible. My car isn't a strip only car, and I do think the lighter weight 18lb flywheels will impact my 60' times. Also a "bummer", I can't run my skinnies due to the LS1 brake upgrade. No big deal, just gonna have to save some money and buy some 17" front runners later on.
2013, I hope to have the engine significantly upgraded with AI heads and cam, and I'm thinking low 11's is a possibility then...that'd be sweet.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
But my goals are to get my camaro running good at the track, work out the kinks in the new mods, hope to get somewhat consistant at the track. And win some rounds so I can rack up some points in the sportsman class. I was the slowest car in that class last year but almost made it to Indy for the semifinals. Only 2pts(rounds from it)
Racing to me is so fun and the experience of living at the track on the weekend can not be overtoped. March is coming soon, so is this little turboed thirdgen, and one he*l of a driver!!!

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
dial class?, ur car wont be consistent until u get a bunch of time getting the launch down.
and learning how heat and air temps are going to affect ur 1/4 times
turbo car in a dial class is a bitch, u have to launch at the same rpm/boost level everytime, and have the same cooldown routine between rounds to make it consistent
get urself somehting to put all ur timeslips in and make a spread sheet that shows humidity air temp and log ur runs and also stuff like boost pressure at launch rpm etc etc
with as much as i ran my v6 car closest i could get the thing from one pass to the next was .300

I have my semi-annual road trip planned again this year. July or August. Toronto to Edmonton.
This year (if I can pull it off) I'll pack my slicks in the back and try to make a few passes at Castrol.
Good luck Alky...hope to see you there.

I haven't decided what events I'll attend yet. It's all going to depend on finances, weather and if the car is running or not. I'd like to go to the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals. The winners get to go to the finals in Memphis at the end of the year. If not, just the regular bracket events are good enough for me. I don't even have my 2012 race schedule posted on my web pages yet.

My main goal is to get my car back together and just drive it all over the place. Didn't even bring it out last year. I just really want to cruise the back roads all over WI and not break anything. If I did get to the track, I'd like to run a 11.5x @ 116 mph or so. We'll see though.

i would like to drive more than last year and at the 1/8 airport race id like to not look like a noob again.i lost the first round because i didnt fully understand the et time that goes on the windsheild i lost to a sand bagging pickup, ten more feet of track i would have won.oh and i dont want to sit at the starting line spinning the tires because of all the excitment of racing. the idea of poping the clutch at 4500 rpms and not letting off the gas didnt work so well for me.

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
My goal would be to Hit 9.20s and trap 150 with my Single Disc Street Clutch T56 set-up.. Had many upgrades I hoped to do over winter, but a out of tolerance bell housing caused me to Hurt my input shaft, Shaft support, Bearing..ect.. So 10" wheels and 1.875 headers are on back burner.. Should be able to realistically hit my goal assuming car stays together.. Still need to get injectors larger than 42s soon..

Re: What are your goals for the 2012 racing season?
My car went 14.1@101.8 last year with a terrible launch (2.3 60 ft I think) and street tires.
I wont be able to get DR's or slicks this year, but I did get my 3.27's yanked in favor of my 3.70s (Thanks mw66nova!) and the car is a whole different animal.
If I can hit a 13.8 I'll be happy. If I can hit 13.5 I'll be ecstatic.
Beyond that I just bought my first helmet. Getting ready to buy some cheap tires I can autocross on and throw those on my spare wheels. Hopefully budget issues wont get in the way of that. I've been wanting to go autocrossing for years, the car's finally getting to where I wanted it to be 3 years ago when I built it and as long as I can get a hold of some expendable tires I'm gonna go tear it up!
If there's money left, I'm gonna put a 230/230ish cam in it. That was my original goal, but I had an epiphany and decided I should stop building it and finally go racing, so I switched from doing a cam swap to buying some tires for my cheap 17 inch wheels I got a couple of years ago.

my goal may change from mid 9's to 8.99 if this deal on a set of afr heads and vic jr efi comes threw for me
i just dont know how willing i will be to put the afr heads on my shortblock.
its a factory 4 bolt block and factory forged crank
stock rods with arp bolts and some cheap speedpro forged pistons that im smacking with 20+ psi of boost and a 100 shot of nitrous
