350...the shortblock is all GM...except for the timing chain. I wounded #8 cylinder this year, so I need to put new rings in it. I get my best times by spinning it to 6800, but I occasionally hit the 7200 chip. I would guss that between me and TRAXION (original owner), there are at least 300 passes on the motor.

Re: 1/4 mile times> Post em up

I guess. The cam is VERY similar to a Comp Extreme Energy roller with 580" lift. My cam is on a 109LSA, but a 107 would probably be even better. The heads flow well too. The new carb is actually stronger than the miniram. I just haven't been able to hook up all of the extra low end torque. In a 3000'DA with the miniram, I would typically run 12.10's. My 11.89 was with a good bit of spin coming out of the hole. I am going to do some work to the stock front end suspension this winter to see if I can stop spinning. Then I will probably break the 7.5" 10 bolt! LOL!

1984 Firebird T/A 350/5speed - 14.2 or 14.3 at something pathetic like 79 MPH with what I later found out in the night to have a mild vacuum leak and 2 melted plug wires.
1987 IROC 305 - 14.3 at 98 MPH/13.6 on a 100 shot

Re: 1/4 mile times> Post em up

lol im buildin a 406 hsr and wanna see if anyone else has similar engines.
My old 383 HSR was AFR 195's with custom 230/245 .603/.613" with 1.6 rockers, 109 lsa hydraulic roller, ported HSR intake, 11 to 1 compression, etc. With 3600 stall and 3.42 gear at 3450lbs raceweight, it went 11.47 at 118.xx my best in 2500-2800ft DA. With more tuning timing and chassis setup it probably would have went 11.2's at 120 in cooler weather.
My buddy is planning on doing a 406 HSR setup. Based on my results, I'd suggested 210cc heads and maybe try the XFI 292 grind. I talked to a cam grinder and he said that cam will work well but he'd rather see a tighter lobe sep. He suggested 2 grinds, 238/242 on a 109 I believe to peak by 6200, and a 242/246 I think it was on a 110 to peak closer to 6400-6500...depending on what bottom end we go with. Those should push his car into the bottom 11's with hydraulic roller cam... and yet still be streetable and tuneable.

Re: 1/4 mile times> Post em up

I went 14.2 at 95 with a 2.4 60 ft, had bubkis for traction. Found out later that my torque converter was having a heart attack. I think with traction and a healthy converter I would have been in the 13s.

Stock L98 shortblock including cam
ZZ4 heads
Stock TPI with porting in the plenum/runners and base
AFPR
Mailorder Tune
Factory exhaust manifolds with Dual Cat into 3" catback to Flowmaster 80

Race weight with me was 3120.

I just finished installing the new converter with a 2800 stall this weekend. Should have headers and true duals on the car by next weekend.

Re: 1/4 mile times> Post em up

I have a pretty much stock '91 Z-28 w/ 350TPI. Ran 14.01@99.98mph. Was the last run of the day last December. I was upset I couldn't get into the 13s. Still spun a bit off the line, so I'm hoping that once the tracks around here open up I can break into the 13s.

What I've done to the car:

Replaced Oil+Trans Fluid+Gear Oil with synthetics.
Replaced stock Air Filters with K&N Filters.
Opened engine and cleaned internals.
Cleaned Intake manifold (Not Ported)
Tires were BFG G-Forces (Stock Replacement, this car had the ZR Tire option.)
