Re: 406CI Small block 83 Firebird with 30/9/15 MT slicks... 1/4 time?

yea so i finally went to the track

only to be turned away becase i didn't hook up the neutral safety switch...

so i hooked it up out there and boom shifter cable is kinda messed up. so he asks to start it in park, the shifter went to park the trans stayed in reverse.

So basically i ended up running over the tech when it started in reverse and he was standing in the way of the open door.

I can't say I am surprised at your post here. Take your time and go over the car slowly to make sure it is safe. There are plenty of people who can guide you here. Presentation has a lot to do with a techs attitude at the track. if things are neat and clean, tech will go much easier. When your car looks like a blind man assembled it, I can guarantee you will have tech problems.

The tech was impressed with the rest of the car. Checking the neutral switch was the last thing he asked to see.

He was cool about it considering I ran him over. He said get a new shift cable and im good.

I would suggest a battery cut off switch also. I did not see one in the pics at the rear of the car.

Hey man everybody has to start somewhere. Its come along ways and before you know it you'll have everything sorted out. Good luck.

Actually I can't laugh too much. The neutral safety switch on my megashifter went out after I replaced the starter, and I started it in drive in the driveway and almost ran over my front porch years ago. Live and learn I suppose.

This time i took my sweet *** time putting it together, making sure everything was done right. she started right up without any leaks so i think i got it mostly sorted out

damn it was a bitch because of the kickout rear sump baffled race oilpan.
ill show you guys what im talking about when i get some pics up.
