Went to the 1/8 mile in San Diego tonight to see what this dog could do. MPH sensor was down at the end of the track and I was trying to pay attention to what I was doing so I wasn't looking at my speedo, if anyone would have a calculator or a guesstimate please let me know.

305 TBI, almost stock, 3" cat back flowmaster, and an open air element. I also have 2.73's(great for gas, sucks for track)

1st run
RT 1.347
60FT 2.673
ET 11.461

2ND RUN
RT 1.445
60FT 2.668
ET 11.126

3RD RUN
RT 1.236
60FT 2.646
ET 11.363

4TH RUN
RT .932
60FT 2.655
ET 11.247

FINAL RUN
RT .35
60FT 2.710
ET 11.260

At least my reaction time got better throughout the night. Biggest help was a buddy that went with me, told me to start my launch toward the end of the 2nd yellow. I was bummed and didn't think this car was this slow but the bright side is that I can shave alot of time for cheap. I am going to start looking for a LT1, in the mean time, are there any things I can work with to get this thing quicker while the 350 is getting built?

I've heard advace timing a few degrees, going to read about that, buddy told me I may shave 1-2 tenths just by getting rid of weight. I'm going to start looking for a rear axle with 3.42's or ? 3.73's will be to tall for right now, maybe later. What about tire pressure? I had tires at 32psi(regular street tires). Also my buddy told me to try the stock air cleaner since it may get cooler air from the snorkle? Any thoughts?

Thanks for lookin, Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

By the way, I knew thecar was slow before I went, I wasn't expecting to blow doors off, just not expecting that slow of times. This was for baseline, so actually the slower the better right?

Actually when you see the last yellow light come on, go. By the time you and the car react, the light should be green as you break the starting beam.

Your car is verrrry slow. Even slow for a 305. You need to get your 60' time down into the low 2.0 range with street tires. At least there's always room for improvement.

Do a good tuneup. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, set the timing to stock specs, filters, etc then try again.

A low 11 second 1/8 mile pass should be around 60 mph. I think there are stock 4 cylinder imports that can beat that. Get to work.
