closing in on all the projets !

As most of you know, I`ve been working on the car all winter, to date I `ve completed the 10 point conversion from an 8 point, installed a racing seat, moved all of the ign and electronic`s to the passenger foot well, gutted the dash and taken all of the un needed items out. Some of you might have seen the ET wheels thread..I have finally had the 5/8 18 threaded studs installed into the moser axles and picked up the right lug nuts for the front wheels. I ended up using 28" Moroso DS2 front tires, I think they be fine although the rear needs a little "rack" now. I`ve also been under the hood...which is also been painted and installed (glasstek 4 inch lift off) I used 1/4 turn fasteners and the O.E. hood hinges with some custom aluminum angle stock. The engine has had the new 2 1/8 into 4 inch headers installed now after being treated to 1,600* ceramic coating done by QC coatings in shelby twp MI. The engine also got a new set of fabbed valve covers and a dart 4500 intake, I will get pic`s of the engine shortly but here are a few of the car on the ground finally! I know the hood color is off! Damit!

hey
it definately looks good, I'll be moving up to 5/8" wheel studs on the rear shortly as well with a moser 9", just going to order it that way from them. How do you like the 28" fronts? Do they rub at all, I was looking to upgrade from my 25.5" 165R15 tires and was debating between the 27.5" M/T tires in 4.5" width or the D2 morosos. Have you driven it at all to give me some feedback on if they rub anywhere?

xpndbl3- Yea I like them, I was thinking of going w/ 26`s but I landed a decent deal on these, I have not driven it...the car has no exhaust and I`m not sure how I`m going to tackle that one yet to be honest. the stock rims/tire combo actually touched the plastic fender liner on hard turns..time will tell but they look like they`ll be okay since they are only 4.5 wide

Thanks! The rears are 15x10 with a 5.5 back space and the fronts are 15x3.5 with a 1.75 back space. They do offer a 2.25 front backspace but that rim has a 0mm offset, the 1.75 has a -12mm offset even though it looks like those spokes are straight the do ever so lightly slant out from the hub and JUST BARELY clear my c4 calipers! I`ll be using a .100 thick spacer on them for insurance.

Why the extra cost of the 5/8" wheel studs for such a small tire? 1/2" wheel studs will work fine for a lot less money.

I agree, I had the 1/2 inchers in hand and the guy that does the rearend / axle work suggested I just do the thread in ones and be done, instead of upgrading and drilling another set of holes when they would be required, besides I hate those shank style lug nuts and they do have a certain cool factor besides being unbreakable. I`ve seen tires come off at the track and the cars usually have no upgraded studs over stock but one thing not so easy to fix is the body damage left by such a event. One less thing to buy down the road and do over again.

Looks great I love those wheels. What did you do to get those back tires on there, anything? I am looking to get some new tires very soon.

finished up the motor for the most part.....fogger holes are plugged for now, I`m going for 10.20`s or better on motor first. Also have the evac hoses to pick and install still but I still have a few months of cold left.

The tires fit okay, the front of the drivers and passengers side well need clearance, the rear of the passenger well needs to be worked with also...and the bump stops need to be cut off. I`m actually considering shortening the axle and dropping in some larger (taller) wheel tubs, there`s about an inch and half of room between the factory wheel well and the "frame rail" I can get the axle cut cheap and the tubs would mostly be just work, the tires would tuck then, even though they are not too bad as is.

why are you still running the STB? it's not helping any in the 1/4 and it's adding weight.

also, what size feed line do you have for the fuel? i'm gonna run my stock 3/8" / -6 for now. think it'll be enough for my combo that you and i have discussed?

I ran the stock fuel line on my car on gasoline. and it supplied just fine with a Holley blue.

Matt, I`m using coil overs and for now it gives it the front stability. I plan to run some roll bar tubing from the cowl to the tower and from the tower to the front leading sections of the frame in the future, it would have been done when I did the cage but I did not have all of the componets to go to manual brakes. The booster is occupying the space where the bar needs to be placed. I don`t know if you have ever driven a third gen with coil overs but for the street it felt like driving a wet noodle, add the weight of the big block and 22 year old strut towers....yea it needs it, for now at least.
Believe me, if I could chuck it I would, damn thing is in the way of everything

I`m still using the factory fuel line, I`m running about 35 psi to the reg and it tapers down to 6 .5 psi for the carb, the regulator has a return port for the unneeded fuel, 22 yr old pump still maintains it`s pressure all the way thru the run. I`m getting ready to up the fuel system a bit, I picked up a sumped aluminum tank from nasty fuel systems and I`ll still be using an in tank for the motor, probably the 255 walbro. the sump portion will be for the nos fuel line.

If your running a tpi pump it`ll be fine, mine is at least,.. and I know a neighbor of mine Scott @ driveline-solutions is using a 255 lph in tank and running mid tens on motor and touched the high 8`s on the gas...I`m fairly sure he runs it all on the in tank.

my car is currently setup for a mechanical pump and is actually using a factory replacement 85 z28 pump right now. i'm gonna stay mechanical for a while, for budget's sake. that's very good to know that the factoy lines are feeding the combo just fine.
