2007 All F-body Racing and Show series

hey gang,
some of you may have heard of the NJFBOA and our anniversary meet, the East Coast F-Body Nationals, that we put on every year. from teh success of some of the major events that the club has been invovled in we are looking into putting together and all f-body racing and show series for next year.
we are looking to put on 4 or 5 events over the course of the summer with a points championship and prizes.
we have started discussions for rules packages and classes. so far things are moving along pretty smoothly. please check out 2007 F-Body Series - New Jersey F-Body Owners Association to see what we have so far. if anyone has any opinions or advice please feel free to PM, post up here, or just join up at NJFBOA.org and post there. we are trying to put together a fair series that will allow for everything from absolute entry level to all out competition cars.
hope to see you all at the east coast nats or next year at one of the series events

we are looking to have 4 or 5 events the first season.
hopefully you will be able to amke it to a few events. things are looking good in the early going and these will turn in "don't miss" events.

If it takes off like the NMRA, or FFW for the Mustangs it will be something great. Big events with with lots of cars, a cruise, car show and everything else... hard to beat.

Any idea on class rules and if you plan to cater to the street guys or the race cars. The Mustang ones have turned into race car only clases, but were designed around street mods.

we have started laying the groundwork for our rules. we are trying to have a little bit of somethign for everyone. we will have a variety of bracket classes and heads up catagories, as well as a wide variety of classes and special awards for the car show series.
check out what we have going so far 2007 F-Body Series - New Jersey F-Body Owners Association

please give me yoru feedback on the rules packages. we would like to have the rules finalized by the end of september to give everyone time to build up for the series.

I will throw my .02 in as I have seen some of the good and bad that comes form this. The first years of this are going to be growing years. Your going to have to over come car counts, and scrutiny, but if it takes off it will prosper, and there will be more and more racers and events. Then after a while racers will take over, and your going to have controversy. With the class my car is loosely based off every even there is a 10 page post of fighting and trying to get rule changes. One combo starts to take over (definately proves tough if you have the LS1 cars and L98 cars running in similar classes) and the rules are changed almost every race to try and even things out. Its hard to have two cars run similar times, let alone two different comboes...

Might be worth it to take a look at what the Mustang racing leagues have done, and try not to make the same mistakes, but take the ideas that have worked well... If thats not your thing and your going at it completely new, then I sure hope it takes off. Might get more people into Fbodies!

balance is the biggest thing we are having trouble with. dealing with so many different years that came with such a wide variety of engines and such an array of curb weights is a real challenge.
one thing that we are planning on is having the rules be set once they are announced as final. unless some hoorible oversight or safety hazzard presents itself, we will run one set of rules for the entire season. i can not stand when sanctioning bodies change rules mid-stream, it is a great way to make money spent in the off season useless and a car uncompetitive.
we don't expect to draw a millin cars the first year out. the one thing that we have going for us is that we are working on rolling the two major events that the NJFBOA already supports into the series. so there will be some existing basis to wrok from.
i have been lookin a lot at old NMRA rule books. the newer rules are all about race cars, we are trying to base this mostly on "street" cars.
it is hard to try to cover all the bases as far as car combos and still keep things somewhat realistic for the entry level driver, but we are going to do our best.

i encourage everyone to regularly read our rules packages for updates and give feedback. the more input we get, the better the rules will be for racers and fans.

-thanks everybody
