hey gang,
i was wondering what you guys think of the idea of runnign a powerglide in a car that does not have a ton of power but is well geared and very light.
the car is my '83 Z28 hard top with factory fiberglass hood.
the motor will be my basically stock LG4 that will only be seeing mild bolt ons(electric fan, electric water pump, delete smog, delete power steering, delete a/c, full exhaust, open or deleted air filter, edelbrock performer intake), 4.09 gears( i have a dana 44), and the car will ahve every weight reduction trick i know. i am expecting the car to be around 2900lbs with me in it.
i was thinking that if i run around a 3000 stall it will still leave the line a little sluggish, but the 80lbs or so of raw weight plus how much easier teh glide is to turn shoudl more than offset the gearing.
am i thinkign along the right lines here?
the car will be used for soem street driving adn a whole lot of bracket racing.

My car uses a PG. Most of the factory PG trannsmissions were behind 6 cyl cars so your underpowered engine won't mind.
