Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
Now you guys are scaring me... If I drag the Orange car over there the last thing I want to do it get it stuck....
My thought is to cruise the 84 Z over on Friday, and then drag the 88 Orange car over on Sat. for the show... The 84 just went out for paint, so I don't see why it shouldn't be done...
Also the Orange car is a trailer car for the most part (I perfer not to drive it more than 5 miles or so and it is REALLY LOUD)... I did hear there is a spot pretty close that I could dump it off the trailer and drive it in, or is bringing it in on a trailer an option?

Steve brings his in on a trailer.
No need to worry about his driveway. My exhaust at it's lowest point is 2.25" from the ground.

Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
I don't know what my exhaust height is but I know with 3 people in the car it will drag once in awhile. Going to have the 4 speed in the car finally and am considering a road trip to finally meet some of you guys on this site. It will depend on what is going on when the time comes nearer and what kind of millage I can do once it is running. My car will definitely not be perfect and may possibly not have much for interior but this should be fun and I hope the 6 hour trip would be well worth it.

I will be there. Maybe I will sleep in the woods. It sounds like the lady at the campground is a real capital B. I don't know if i'm cookin this year...might just sit with Steve and Neal and get plastered. I'm not doin any burnouts this year...I don't think. I don't have a job to buy new tires. I am going to plan accordingly for beer this year. No more bummin off Steve this year. How much beer do I owe ya Steve? Neal are you bringin the heavy stuff from Canada?

Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
sheesh....uhm well last year we met the quota of the beer can pile being higher than my fender again. Thanks to all our efforts we've been successful almost every year in that. Last year I restrained myself with the burnouts. Who knows what'll happen this season. the weekend after I'll be on pinks all out, so probably won't even drive it anywhere but off the trailer and back on it. As for beer being owed. I think a miller lite truck should do filled top to bottom. haha. Hope you sit in our drinking circle this time around. it's fun.

Oh Yeah! This year I'm grabbing a couple cases at the duty free shop!
(Molson Canadian = 5%, and something a little stronger) I couldn't believe
Illinois beer was only 3%....and since I won't be putting doors on, I'll be
working at photos and a "buzz-on" !!!
Just replaced my carb, front wheel bearings, killed the heat riser and fixed
exhaust, new plugs and tune-up...aside from a little beautification, she's
ready to roll!
*I need Denny's address, got to plug it into my new Knight Rider GPS!

This looks really cool, and it's pretty close to good old Dixon, IL. How old do you have to be to attend? I'll be 18 when this rolls around.

Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
I was there before without paying because I had no desire to be in the raffle or judging or anything.
I can certainly understand paying if you want to eat the food or be eligble for the different trophey classes, raffle etc.
But if someone just wants to look at the cars and has no desire to be entered in anything, then there's no cost to you so why should their be a cost to them?
Buy making someone pay you're entering them in the show and giving them a raffle ticket.
Thus potentially splitting votes from someone who really put their heart and soul in to their car and now that person who might take 3rd gets bumped.
Also it lowers the raffle odds for the rest of us.
It's to everyone's benefit to let those who want to be in that stuff be in it and those who don't, not.

Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
I believe if he carpools with anyone who will be showing then there is not an issue and he is essentially "free". If he wants to show up and walk around/eat then he has to buy the raffle ticket at least. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that is how it goes.

Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
The registration fees have been in place for the past three or four years. The fee is per car and that gets you into the raffle along with all you can eat and drink, there are no "per person" fees. The flat "per car" fee makes everything easier because everybody there is entitled to everything and there's no worrying about who paid to eat and who didn't. Yes, if he rides with somebody else he would basically be free but every car coming in is required to pay the $35/$45 fee.

Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
I'm more worried about how many cases of beer my '86 will hold...
Of course, if I run into Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois babes wearing sexy
camaro & firebird t-shirts, I may have to throw the beer out the window and
promise them all the Illinois beer they can drink, a scenic view of Monee (at night), a campfire slushfest, and a great classic show.
I mean the cars!
Yeeeaaaahhh!
That's what I'm talking about!

Re: Thirdgen Fest '09 info
Well as usual I will be there. I have never missed a TGF. I think there should be some award for the few originals that have never missed.
Anyway the 92 Niterider will be back and is in supurb shape in and out. Finally got in the winners circle last year and hope to defend that Interior title.
The 86 Ole Schl is back on the road after being down two years. I probably will bring the 92 Friday and leave it and drive the 86 the next day. Hopefully I will have repainted the 86 by then but that will depend on how much money and time I have after papmering the 92.
TGF is a great time and I encourage all that can come to come.

The wife is not amused with my "burning up" the long weekend with this and SCC is on Sunday at 41.... but... It appears I should make it.... taking the Orange car out of storage Sunday, and the white car is 95% complete... It will make a much better car to come in and out with Friday night... lol (even though it is only a 10 min drive straight down my road)

you all need to hop onto our caravans that start on the north side of chicago and run down to his house
if you sign up for the caravan from my house i'll PM my address to you. I don't know his exact address, i'm sure if you paypal'd him for the event you'd get it. he is in crete, IL but I only know how to get there not the exact address to help you out.

Problem solved.
Seriously though, if the converter clogged, just pull it off and shove a broom handle or pipe through it till crap stops breaking and falling out. Then put it back till you can replace the cat with a new one.

Knocking the cat out is the plan, but... I don't forsee having enough time to get it done by tomorrow night... (I don't think the 25 year old cat is going to be the easiest thing I have ever removed)
The wife has the Honey Do list posted since I will be gone from the house Fri night, and Sat (TGF) and Sunday is SCC at 41... She is not amused with me killing the weekend.... Oh well... lol
