Thirdgen Fest '08 info
I'm a little behind in getting information posted up this year but some of the other regulars seem to be doing a good job of giving some early party info. However, I figured I better get around to getting up some more complete info. If you've attended the event in the past you pretty much know what to expect but for those who haven't here's some early info.
Thirdgen Fest is held every Memorial Day weekend in Crete, IL (about 40 minutes south of Chicago). This year it is Friday and Saturday, May 23rd and 24th. This is our seventh year and the event continues to get bigger and better every year. We normally have at least 70 cars and hope to have a better turnout this year.
Here what's planned for this year:
Friday, May 23rd 7:00 pm --- Friday night party
Friday night is the party night. The Friday night party is basically just your average summer party. We will have a bonfire, keg (21 & over), pop, chips, etc. We will also have bean bag boards and other things to do. The party isn't really about the cars, it just gives people a chance to hang around and talk with other people who love thirdgens.
Saturday, May 24th Noon --- Thirdgen Fest '08
Saturday is the actual event day. Each car attending will receive a goodie bag with a Thirdgen Fest '08 keychain and other items. We provide all you can eat food and drink all day. (No alcohol is provided on Saturday.) Each car attending is assigned a number and you will get a car information sheet to display will your car.
Trophies are awarded in nine categories:
Best Camaro: Stock
Best Camaro: Modified
Best Firebird: Stock
Best Firebird: Modified
Best Paint
Best Interior
Best Engine
Best Restoration
Best of Show
The stock and modified classes have trophies awarded for first through third place. The other five classes are first place only. Winners are chosen through participant voting. Each registration packet includes a ballot for the owner to vote for the car they feel is best in each category.
We also have a raffle at the end of the day. We haven't decided on prizes yet for this year but it will probably be multiple smaller prizes like last year instead of one large prize. Each registration packet includes one raffle ticket and additional tickets are available.
The day will end with a car cruise to one of the local cruise spots.
Registration packets for Thirdgen Fest '08 go on sale April 1st and are available through the day of the event. The early registration price is $35 per car and is available April 1st - May 15th. The cost increases to $45 per car if you register May16th through the day of the event so it pays to register early. Your registration fee gets in into both days. Remember the fee is PER CAR, it doesn't matter how many people you have in your car. The registration packets also include a map and directions as well as motel/campground information for people coming from out of town.
This is a '82-'92 Camaro/Firebird only event. All other cars will be parked in a separate area. However, you can still attend without bringing a thirdgen but the same registration fees apply.
We believe Thirdgen Fest is the biggest and longest running Thirdgen event in the world. This is a great event and continues to get better every year!!!
More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Is there going to be a list/ nametags to show who everone is. Like realname then their screenname on TGO.
What else should I bring. I know food will be served. Cameras, fold out chairs, rain gear(I saw the vid from last year just a little rain), and myself. Tell me what else there is
First timer Read all articles but didn't find any info on some little thing.

Another first timer here, just wondering a few things? How long does the event go to on saturday? I dident really see a "shows over" time? And, where would one who's never been there park? Is there assigned parking spots and or someone who will show you where to park? Just wondering, thanks!

It ends around 6:00 to 6:30, that's when the car cruise starts but not everybody goes on that. You will be shown were to park when you show up.
