Re: 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals

Hi:

I am fairly new to this site and I live in Northern New Jersey. I have a Pristine 1985 Trans Am that is 95% stock and was intersted in going to the 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals at Island Dragway NJ.

I was wondering if there a race category for mostly stock firebirds or camaro's ??? If so, what is involved to race your own car ??

I have always been interested in what my TA can really do on a Track.

I realy do not know anyone on this site, but want to attend to meet new people and enjoy the cars !!

Any information would be great.

Thanks
Rob

Re: 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals

Rob,

I think I already answered you on our site, but for a near stock car, you most likely won't get far in the heads up classes. Bracket racing would be the way to go.

Re: 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals

Is this worth coming down from MA? I expect my car to be done by Mid-End of July, and I wanted to do a small road trip when it was done. Would this be the road trip to take down to NJ for this event?

Can anyone enter in the shows?

Well, I might be a bit biased, but I think the event would certainly be worth a few hours drive from Mass. The winner of our Outlaw heads up class last year brought his 3rd gen up from Georgia for the event, and last I heard he was planning on coming back this year.

And yes, anyone can enter to race or show.

Re: 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals

I know we're only about a month away from this event, but there are going to be some rules changes to the heads up catagories to make them more accessible to everyone. Details will be posted up ASAP.

Island Dragway - the site of the 1st NHRA 200 MPH run - is in a beautful part of the state.

Sponsors to date: NastyZ28.com, SLP Performance Parts, Inc., Edelbrock, Year One, Alex Quiles Photography, Jersey Devil Detailing, Eastern Grafix, Jegs High Performance

Clarification:
Q: Th350/400 OK for street classes? Some LS1 guys are using TH350/400 and want to know if they can run in classes other then outlaw. Per the rules, a "stock style" trans is needed in all classes other the outlaw.
A: Yes you can. Any GM TH auto trans qualifies as stock style. Same rules still apply (ie we don't allow transbrakes).

Re: 2008 East Coast F-Body Nationals

i had a great time at the nationals. i didnt know there was going to be a test and tune going on at the same time. so when i saw all the mustangs and imports showing up i was the "wtf". but what made my day was the honda that blew his motor half way down the track just before the rain started. there were so many awesome cars. i cant wait for next year.
