Re: All hail the mighty small block 1955-?????

Whats impressive is that being designed in the early 50's and in production for the 55 model year and its still being built in volume new to this day.

Newer more technological engines are already being supplanted. We had the LT-1 to the LS1(Gen III) to Gen IV and now we are at the Gen V and a LT1(no hyphen lol).

But the true small block endures.

Well, 1956 was the first year it had an oil filter that attaches to the block as we know it. I think what, 2001 or something was the last year it was in a production vehicle, a van? Can't remember for sure.

Re: All hail the mighty small block 1955-?????

Early 2000's in the vans was the last production engine in a vehicle platform for sale(US wise at least).

It is still built new to this day however for replacement and the Mexico built Goodwrench replacement(what it is called now). Don't know if it is built elsewhere, but still in production.
