Air compressors?
Anyone got any leads or know someone getting rid of one?
Looking for 80 gallon tank and 2 stage compressor.
Thought I would throw it out in the car community since folks like us do things like this in our garages lol

Re: Air compressors?
Ingersol Rand at Tractor Supply
SKU 3496129 $1099.99
Its 2 stage 80 gallon, so should keep up pretty good.
Emailed them to see if I can get the 10% off sale I missed last week due to living at work. Putz at the store was about clueless/useless
Everyone likes it and only thing that puked on people was the motor, so make them replace it if it dies under warranty and after that buy a Baldor.
It will put me a little under budget and let me get a properly plumbed setup installed sooner, 50ft loop then the water separator, etc.
So awaiting email and barring a deal on craigslist it hopefully happens really soon lol

Re: Air compressors?
That one has pump issues going by the reviews.
If I pick it would be one that has motor issues vs. pump issues, motor is cheaper and easier to swap out. Been doing lots of research was thinking about Eaton as well, but they all have issues unless u spend serious $$$ or find an old Champion or Quincy floating around cheap.
Waiting for Tractor Supply to email me back*fingers crossed*

Re: Air compressors?
It's 15.8 at 90psi, so not a world beater, but does ok, but it is a real number unlike some of the other stuff in the range that is questionable.
Its also rated as 100% duty cycle if warranted also, which is worth it.
But about the most reliable in my price range.

Re: Air compressors?
Thats a pretty stout flow rate, and 100% duty cycle is a big deal. It takes a motor with pretty good insulation and capacitors to pull that off without getting too hot and raising the ire of the friendly neighborhood UL compliance team. It all sounds good on paper.

Re: Air compressors?
No one ever complained about the pump, just the motor issues, supposedly changed since then.
I'll make them eat it under warranty if it fails, but after that I'll spend the money to get a Baldor motor and be done with it.

Re: Air compressors?
It went on sale at Tractor Supply for a $100 bucks off, so I paid for it today.
Now to figure out how to bring it home.....pickup truck is a lot taller than renting their trailer which is lowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Re: Air compressors?
That is one big heavy awkward son of a @#%^%^!
Went with my brother and dad and a trailer.
Thank God the engine hoist will go that high or we would have been stuck unloading it
Now to get it wired and plumbed later this week when I am off again.

Re: Air compressors?
It's all good, that far out would be like a waste of a trip, by the time I paid for all the gas it would take and lunch lol
We loaded it with a forklift at Tractor Supply and unloaded it at home with the engine hoist, so other thank walking it on the pallet about 8 ft total we didn't do anything.
Stupid things are just so damned awkward.

Re: Air compressors?
I'll try and get a pic later.
Ordered a Rapidair plumbing setup for it, should make it quick and easy and figured worth it since I won't be more than 28 ft from the compressor should be more than adequate for what I need.
Of course it will be here before the weekend but the damned regulator/moisture separator won't be....................

Re: Air compressors?
Pics for people who don't know what a compressor looks like
The bad boy. My Dad and I will probably be wiring it up t'row, lacking a regulator until Monday so it won't be fully plumbed up until Thurs probably since I have to work on Monday to now.............. Yes garage is a disaster, you don't want to know how much stuff has been moved around the last week or so.
This is the Rapidair plumbing system 1/2 OD, 3/8 ID works great for single users. Nice to run and easy to plumb, although a lot easier before you have everything in the garage to work around. Shelf brackets run low and outlets are barely above the only other clear run, so duct tape is used to cover the metal edges of the shelving brackets. I'm not pulling all that down ever again lol
You can see the layout of the setup here. Regulator and moisture separator will be above the work bench near the compressor. Off to the right of the pic there is a window where I plumbed and air line jack to. Going to be one on the front of the work bench as well. You can see where I ran the line down the main beam to the center post, that's where the 50ft'er on a reel is going, need to get some long bolts to mount it.

Re: Air compressors?
Compressor is in and wired up, of course we got done to late to start it since the little one is sleeping.......................
Regulator came into amazingly, USPS delivers on Sun. for Amazon.
So other then break in run time and plumbing from compressor to the corner it will be good to to, need to grab a couple pieces to turn the main tank valve back towards the wall when I plumb it. Won't be able to touch it until Thurs afternoon, working days Mon and nites Teus and Wedns.....
So I'll probably plumb it up and break it in on Thurs or Fri.
I want to see it run
