Picked up a custom plate for the GTA.

Call me Ishmael!

I wanted NGRY BRD because I thought it would be a little funny. My nephew and other kids would see Angry Birds, not quite getting that it was a fairly healthy sounding LT1.

But I was lazy, and it was stolen from me. So I'm sure there is a Firebird out there rolling around with that plate now.

Instead I thought about how over the past 14 years I've scrimped saved, bled, and doggedly kept fixing a car that probably should never have been fixed. Its been an obsession to fix this car because I'm so deep in the hole now, I might as well keep digging. Hence Captain Ahab.

Thirdgens are so rare to see now that I doubt the custom plate will make my car any less distinctive in my area. White car, with white wheels, and a healthy exhaust note.

To other car people who would recognize the car, they probably still wouldn't give it a second thought. Assuming its just a stock L98 with a cam. And when its not running the 2otL exhaust makes people think its a V6.

To the cops, it won't matter. When it was just a stock L98 cops would blow u-turns just to run the plate.

With almost 10.7:1 compression, no cats, and the SLP exhaust it'll still probably be loud enough that if i get on it, everyone will know where i am. I may ad a resonator to the car to quiet it down a bit more still depending on how loud it is with the new engine.

I've seen less than 5 thirdgens on on my daily commute in the past year, not including TGF last year. Less and Less of them around as time goes by.

LoL. I don't know if I should congratulate you or pray for you. Props for getting it past the state, and I pray no cop figures it out.

So I laughed :-)

Funny yes, but I'm not into the target thing or provocation thing. No bullseyes on my back.

Houston F body crowd still getting together on a reg basis? I ran around with them down there in 07 when I was at school.

Re: Picked up a custom plate for the GTA.

A few are still around and have monthly meets sporadically but would always like a bigger following.

Re: Picked up a custom plate for the GTA.

Tried to work on the transam today. However the dog decided diarrhea was a better expenditure of my time.

Really thinking I'm going to have to take some time off to do this and maybe have an extra set of hands.

Really want to get the AFRs on and get it to an exhaust shop so I can DRIVE it.

Wait a minute!>!?!?!?!?!

U mean at some point it ends and we can actually drive them?

I hear you man, I've gotten to the point where I don't care as long as I get one more thing done every chance I get, but it will run.

Could have driven up there to work on it, but then I'd have to drive back early to make sure the dog didn't have a day of Hershey's squirts all over while I was gone.

On another note, the CPN AHAB plates came in.

The plates arrived JUST in time for me the sticker to expire. They didn't even bother sending me a new sticker lol. The new plates have a brand new sticker that expires this month.

That said, the ports on the AFR heads are simply beautiful. The exhaust ports look positively gigantic compared to the stock LT1 ports.
