I have an L98 with around 100k on it I could probably part with. It's just sitting in the garage. I bought it a month or two ago, pulled the heads to check things out and haven't touched it since. It should just need the heads put back on. I've got about $300 in it, so you could have it for that.
If you're interested, I can take some pictures for you.

Spend a day at the junkyard.
Look for GM Goodwrench labels on the valve covers and check out the first one u see.
Preferably full size so u can try and pull the pan in the yard to check out the mains after you compression test it.
If it looks ok, yank it and run for like 150$
It can be done if you know what your looking for.

really what rings and bearings do you buy?
I think the junk yard is your best bet for a cheap "runner"
