I work for GE Medical Systems, primarily I support thier line of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic cardiology equipment.
It has been an awesome experience.
Its not as difficult as it sounds. Basically if you have some networking, database and PC skills along with enough clinical knowledge to make you dangerous youll do fine. ( much of the clinical knowledge I acquired as part of their training).
Oh, I forgot to mention, you need a strong stomach for when those " patient on the table" calls come in. The cardiac catheterization lab can be a bloody place.

blood doesn't bother me anymore after hacking open deer since i was little and all those cadavors. good times. not sure i spelled that word correctly either, 60 page thesis papers do that to you. But if you grin or smile then you can't have a gag reflex if you ever feel that you're going to throw up.

I am a full time student at Truman college for automotive technology, currently employed at Pep Boys on Elston(BTW I would highly recommend NEVER taking your car there....I work in the service department on vehicles, and you would need a "strong stomach" to see how 90% of the guys I work with hack up cars, not all of them, but most....just some FYI), and soon to be employed at my college as a teachers aide(basically I will help the night time teachers with things they need......and have access to the schools lifts and tools ). But other than that I am always looking for side jobs, and when I get my tool box back home, I will be traveling, so if anyone needs something....let me know!!! Cause I am always looking!!

i've been in the trade for 8 years and been in the same independent shop for 6 years. It's been okay working here, i just can't stand anymore working on crappy chrylser vehicles, SUVS, and mini-vans...They're gonna kill me before i reach the age of 30!

I guess, technically I am an environmental Geologist. I work for an environmental consulting company that deals primarily with the rail roads. Sometimes we get government contracts or site investigations for people looking to buy property aswell.
I spend part of my time out of the office doing inspections at rail yards and collecting samples from spill sites. In the office I am suposed to be working on reports for the EPA, but I tend to spend most of my time on here
Even tho it really isnt a bad job (its easy, laid back and the pay is ok) I can't see myself doing this in the log term, its too damn boring and not enough thinking is involved. And thats why I will be going to NIU to start working on a masters degree in structural geology this January.

From 1993-2000 I was an ASE master tech mechanic for a GM dealership. I got sick of that. In 2000 I became a Fireman. 24 hours on and 48 hours off is a nice schedule.

Well Tim you already know what I do, but I will share anyway. I worked in banking for the last few years and decided it was time to find a job that didnt suck so I went back to school. I am currently in my 2nd year at Ivy Tech. I am going for my degree in automotive technology with my main focus being autobody.

What I do for a living
I worked in a metal fab/powder plant for 11 years - Family business. Then went to antique auto restoration shop - I've been there for almost 6 years now. ---- I'm the next Boyd Coddington of antique cars - LOL!! If anyone is intersted you can see one of the cars the we restored at: http://www.glenmoorgathering.com/bestofshow2005.html - this car, a 1911 Thomas Flyer 6-70 Flyabout, won the best of show at the Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance also.

For another 3 days, I'm going to school at Milwaukee School of Engineering for Mechanical Engineering.
Well, I've decided that I don't need a degree to design the stuff I want to design, and I don't want to design stuff for a company just to have them make all of the money off me, so M.E. isn't for me.
Cars/friends/girlfriend are all back here at home, so this is where I'll be. Gonna start at College of DuPage in January with Tim to get a degree in auto tech. Hell of a lot cheaper than the $30k/year school I currently attend.
I need a job desperately as well in about 2 weeks if anyone needs any help. I'd be all over that job in Gary if it wasn't in Gary

I am employed at Indianapolis Casting Corporation. We cast the ford powerstroke diesel engine blocks and heads among of few other engine blocks. I used to attend Purdue University for M.E. I have not decided if I want to finish this degree or become a **** star. So in the mean time I guess this will do. It is a UAW shop so I make more than most college graduates. I work in the melt department facing 3000 degrees every night. The reality of falling into a furnace andbeing vaporized keeps things interesting, however the idiots I work drive me insane. I am also trying to perfect my card counting technique to make an easy living at playing Black Jack. Peace out.

must be different now. when i started about a year ago, i was already working in a pharmacy for 9 an hour. i started there and was making 5.50, then a month later it went to 6.50 because of the minimum wage (we get min because we dont report tips) the fact that most of the people in my area have money, usually means a good amount in tips, so soon after figuring out i was making around 14 an hour average, i quit the pharmacy and started working 35-40 hours a week at the hut, taking home between 450-500 a week, which was alot of money for an 18 y/o at home, with no bills besides insurance, so i decided to go full out on the car. when i turned 19 i was told to either go back to school, or move out. so the money has been down lately

I'm battling my way through a joint Mechanical Engineering and Business degree at McMaster University. It's unquestionably the time of my life, but also a ton of work. I don't have a job at the moment as I'm way too busy with school, varisty rowing, Formula SAE racing, jazz orchestra and not to mention the Camaro (though it's in the body shop for the winter)...Thank you scholarships! I did an internship over the summer with a company called Vari-Form. Pretty slick. I was put to work trying to increase the efficiency of the robotic welding process for the Dodge Ram front end...mostly just testing the effect of little parameter changes such as weld wire, tip design, voltage, robot speed and various types of optical sensors. It was fun.
I'm hoping to get a shot at one of the internships with GM's R&D department for the coming year, but I'm already at a disadvantage being Canadian. The General does often hire McMaster students for manufacturing internships at it's Oshawa assembly plant, so that's another avenue to pursue...For the meantime, it's lots of Kraft Dinner and Calculus for me!
