We will have to see, I wasn't paying attention to dates and didn't realize till yesterday that the power tour was the week after third gen fest 04 (just gotta hate weeks like that......or not)

I did notice in the pics from last year that it looks like his house is in BFE, what a perfect place

I'll be doing it this year- but in my '66 Caprice not my Firebird. I already ordered a 4-row "desert cooler" radiator and a 700R4 is at the shop being built. Powerglides are evil on long trips.

I'm not going all the way, but I'm going to try and go one stop farther than St. Louis. My Mom lives south of Springfield, MO (the Monday stop) so I'm going to try and drive down and see her & then catch the Tour in Springfield.

...Of course that's if I'm not working on the car up til the last minute getting it ready-which I'm sure is what will happen.

Well, I'm DEFINITELY going now. I turned in my vacation request and booked the hotels online through HOT ROD's website. They have blocks of rooms reserved at every stop. I got double beds at each hotel so one of my friends can come along and split the hotel bill with me.

It should be a pretty good party since I'm staying at the same hotels as lots of the other PT participants. Can't wait til June!

I'd love to- but there is no way the Firebird will be finished & since it's the weekend before power tour I'll probably be thrashing on the '66 to get it ready. I might bring the '66 just so I can meet everybody (and use the trip as a shakedown-run). Are 4000 lb. land yachts allowed at thirdgenfest?

Just thought I'd update this thread. Has anyone else made the decision to do the Power Tour? I'd like to meet up and caravan with some of ya.

It looks like the car is going to be done in time. My 700R4 is built and going in this weekend. My Hotchkis rear suspension should be here next week... and my wheels/tires are ON!

9D1/FruityOne: I'm hoping to drive it and meet up with everyone at Thirdgenfest if I have the bugs all worked out by then. I know the point is to drive your thirdgen-- but that's not an option in my case.

CamaroMike: I believe you're starting a day before me. I'm starting in Springfield, MO. so maybe I'll catch up with you there.

flrtn: I'd love to see your car. Are you going to run it at Gateway? I have booked my hotels, but haven't sent in my registration. I just made myself a note to do that.

When it gets closer to the date, we should all PM each other and exchange cell phone numbers so we can hook up at some point on the tour. I'm bringing a T-Mobile and a Nextel phone so one of them has got to work.

No I don't think I will run it since we are starting the tour and I don't want to chance breaking something. I will also be at thirdgenfest and hope to put a lot of faces to the names

Go for it. Dont get all wrapped up on wondering if you should go because of that.

Some things are certain on the POWER TOUR:
1. There will be an slower car than yours there.
2. There will be an uglier car than yours there.
3. There will be a car just like yours there that is in mint condition and looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor.
4. There will be a car just like yours with all the mods you would do to yours if you had an extra $20K. laying around.

Get out there and have fun.
