What tires are you guys running?

What tires are you guys running?
I am in the market for some new tires for my stock 87 iroc 16 inch rims. I currently have a set of Riken Raptors on mine. They seem decent but I looking to switch them out though sidewalks are begging to crack. This car is my DD. Drive it year round in the central valley California kind of near Fresno. Was just wondering what other local members have or recommend for tires on my DD. I like the white letter look such as Cooper Cobras and Firehawk Indy 500s. What do you guys recomend for me? Also kind if interested in the Nitto 555s.

Re: What tires are you guys running?
I use stock tire size 245/50/16s black lettered. If I changed the wheels then I'd change tires, if you want more meat I'd get torque thrust wheels 15" and then get some 215/70/15s for the front and some 225/70/15 for the rear because if its a daily driver you want to have some meat to burn but not so much that it has so much meat it weighs more and takes a bigger bite out of your mpg, thicker tires wrong more, for example 275/70/15s are very thick tires to run at the track and get grip but their heavy as ****. 225s already have that fat thick look

Ya won't be at the track anytime soon. I plan on leaving the stock sizes 245x50x16. Not looking to change width or height etc. Thanks man what tires are you running brand/model? I've tried Hankook Venus IIs and Riken Raptors. Haven't really been impressed by either...

Re: What tires are you guys running?
Some were worn and already mixed from the previous owner I didn't wanna buy all 4 new at the time, I did buy the 2 Falkens new, the cooper was there already and the Goodyear was the used one I bought, if I were to get new ones I like either the Falken ZIEX, or Goodyear Eagle F1s but those are thru the roof, if I want the cheaper option I'd get Kumho Ecsta.

I only drive it on dry weather never in rain, not to say I haven't but I avoid it, its more fun on dry pavement because its very easy to break traction on this car as it is so I don't need to be slipping and sliding and fishtailing in wet weather.

Re: What tires are you guys running?
Well I decided I want to keep my purchase in the US. I decided I want American made tires. So I am currently thinking cooper zeons, firestone firehawk Indy 500s, or Some bfg g-Force Sport COMP-2s.
However I am still interested in those nitto 555s

Re: What tires are you guys running?
usually the sportier the tire looks the less tread life it has. When i bought tires for my DD. 15 inch rims. I did a ton of research and ended up putting toyo versado tires on there. they have outstanding tread life. i bought some drag radials for drag strips visits.
i also bought online
treaddepot.com-ive used and am happy with their service
tirerack.com-ive used and am happy with their service
discounttiredirect.com-have not used but have heard good things.

Using the Michelin 245/50/ZR16 Pilot Sport Tires all the way around. A little pricey but worth it. They handle great wet and dry and you get plenty of mileage out of them. Then again, even though mine is restored, I still drive mine as a daily driver and put about 1k miles a month on the car.

Re: What tires are you guys running?
Actually, if you do a bit of research, you'll find that the tyre recommendation that Phenom-1 gave you; the Kumho Ecsta is most likely the best bang for the buck. You get 2X the tyre for the price over an equivalent Goodyear brand. The main reason for that is due to the company's lack of heavy advertising campaign costs.
The Kumho is a highly rated tire in sidewall, speed rating, wear rating, predictable giveaway at the end of traction. And did I mention the price??
It's not a racing tyre, but it's definitely a step up from the industry standard T/A's

I've been running the kumhos on my car for a while and I love them. Yeah there cheap but they have great traction. At least in my '87 305 I-ROC.
