Hey guys i am planning on swapping out my 305 TBI for a 350 TPI but i really don't know what i'm going to be needing for the transfer and what i can keep from the 305. Any help or any ideas?: help:

I am planning on doing the same project on my 89 RS. How do you plan on buying your 350? (just block and build up, crate engine, etc)

I'm just going to be purchasing a crate engine and just adding on some after market parts. i was thinking on just building my own engine but its cheaper for me just to buy it built

Im sure their is a thread for this in the archives in either TBI, TPI, or some other forum.

You gotta change the engine wiring harness, ecm to name a few things. TV cable. I do not think it is too bad of a swap.

i have a tbi harness that was converted to tpi by tpiparts.com it cost me 350 i now conveted to ls1 pcm if anyone is intersted i will sell it, will only work with 90-92 ......ps i can help with the conversion, i allso have a bunch of extra parts left- over

i got this complete selling as a complete car 1000. TPI 350 5.7L with around 160-170k 700r4 auto trans 75-85k 94-97 z28 rearend... and i got other engine parts as well. let me know if your interested.

Also thinking about doing this, though i plan on replacing the computer with an aftermarket one that you can program, Car is actually also a work in progress robotics project designed to resemble KITT from knight rider in many basic respects. I want the 350 so the car has more power, been told by my uncle who owns a 69 camaro that the 350 will bolt right in to my tranny and motor mounts no prob.

i converted my 89 tbi to tpi/t5 i did it on my own with a little help not much..every one has their success..i regret doing it... :'( i havent ran it since 2010..it gives me so much bs..but like i said..i did this on my own..
ur gonna need just a new harness new ecm,egr and the fuel pump(and of course the tpi set up).. good luck!!

Just wondering if anybody has completed this in California. I was asking at a smog shop what they would want to see. Sound like there is a lot of red tape BS to jump through with the DMV as far as certifications and inspections.

dont tell anyone they wont kno the difference if its not a radical build and will meet cali emissions

OK, but if I swap from TBI to TPI, isn't there something under the hood, label wise, the smog tech would see to tip them off?
