Just realized this month marks 10 years for me here on thirdgen.org.

Well, to celebrate I thought I’d embarrass myself by pasting my first dumb post. I was lurking for probably a year before officially signing up. I had a different handle at the time since all I had was my ’88 Firebird.
I didn’t know much about Fbodys, or performance in general as you can see from my post, lol. Most of my time was spent reading in the V6 and Street Racing forums, go figure at that age.

Keep in mind these forums were not the wealth of knowledge they are now. Folks now get the benefit of using a powerful search and browsing 12+ years of the database.

My first post in the Nor-Cal boards didn’t come until 2003. Very quiet in here back then.
About 80% of the posters in the thread below are no longer active, but still some familiar names in there!
TraviZ and Will’s first posts. Bennie (1TUF92Z), EvilCartman, antoine and the other Will (norcalz28) make appearances too.
It eventually links to a new thread started in 2004 by Eric (porkyzilla) where we have first-time appearances by Terrel (kairles) and Kyle (r1maniac) a former member.

Anyways, I guess I’m the nostalgic type, so I wanted to reflect. It’s been an educational 10 years and I hope I’ll be lucky enough to make it 10 more!

My 1st post was 9/28/2005 in the Northeast region and I was living in Mansfield PA back then.
Heres part of my 1st post...
Hi y'all, I'm a newbe here. My name is Duane and live in Mansfield PA.
I have a 1987 Monte Carlo LS that I started restoring last fall. I took the frame out, blasted and painted it with Rustoleum...

I later cut it up (in Jan 06) and took it to the junkyard but sold alot of parts. I was going through a breakup with my gf and got rid of alot of stuff.
I was a lurker also until 2008 then I posted quite a bit then I slacked off until last year before I bought my 91 Z/28. Now I cant get away from here!! lol

If I do, it's still in the car. It has been parked since 2007, like a time capsule, haha. Next year when it hits the parked for 5-years mark, I'll see how bad it is and if I want to restore it to something new and improved. I have to wrap up the GTA plans in this next year first.

Yup I love me some Nor cal TGO. I cant wait to be taking my charger to our events at the track and have someone else drive my camaro! (could be my lil brother he is almost 15 soooo almost time to drive!)

ya its been a good run, lets keep it going. ya that thread i started got that **** going all the crazy memories of sunrise blvd, the me vs traviz duo that seemed never ending, out of town meets, weekley cruizing, mod days. almost getting busted by the cops off recycle road, off duty cop when anatolia was being built ahahah, too too too many memories.


on a positive note the more we start bsing and setting up i think it will get the motivation going for the people doing nothing with their cars.

I fount TGO in the late 90's used to read the tech articles, and watch vids when I was in high school. Never knew about the forums until '03 when I joined, things would of been different if I had joined when I first got the Iroc

Will your status change to senior moderator now?! I looked back at some of my first posts and it made me laugh, guess it's kind of a cool way to see how far I've come as a result of this site. Now if we could just get them to decide on a phaqing TGO decal, that would be sweet, been waiting long enough!

That's true, which was odd because So-Cal had their own space.

Haha, nah no such thing. There are plenty mods that have been here since '99'-00.

Yeah I saw that one and it was also posted in the 4th gen boards.

It's only an hour or so away, so maybe I'll come by and spectate some clean rides. If I do, I'll be sure to bring cards.
