Re: letting the cat out of the bag
nice you figured out your thermostat housing issue.
after I saw your setup in person I been thinking about doing that intake setup instead just so I can fix my throttle linkage issues ive had and I dont prefer my ghetto rig setup I run now.

I don't know about cats out of bags, but when will the Formula be out of the garage?
What're you shooting for with this setup Terrell?

Re: letting the cat out of the bag
carbs are great for racecars
fuel injection is great for streetcars.
ive seen plenty of proof in video that FI can run 8's, 7's or even 6's! and these cars still have A/C and drive a 100 miles each way to and from the races.
Therefor, I believe FI is superior.

Re: letting the cat out of the bag
nobodys arguing FI can't make power , a carb is just a better form of fuel delivery. No ifs ands or buts about it. That being said I'll take a fuel injected car for a daily driver ANY day of the week over a carbed car.

FI is simply an electronic carb. the sensor detects the air coming in, measures it, and injects the appropriate ammount of fuel.
a carb does the same thing mechanically using principles of airflow and pressure drop ect.
i dont remember who said it, but i remember a quote that said something along the lines of
the most efficient/accurate/simple fuel injection system is a carb

Re: letting the cat out of the bag
why cant your daily driver also be your 9 second mean machine?
and in FI terms vs the fuel delivery of a carb, doesnt the alpha-n method of fueling represent that very similiar of a carb? in which its a throttle position x rpm = x ammount of fuel?

Re: letting the cat out of the bag
Its fuel entering the engine,
Theres two ways, carburetors..or fuel injection.
Carbs are ok & have their place, I guess if turning a screw seems more precise than controlling injector pulse, then knock yourself out.
Dont think that FI is not for race applications.

Re: letting the cat out of the bag
Now that's a can or worms if I've ever seen one. An age old arguement with no end. My two cents; although I am looking to do the LS1 in my '84 Z28, I prefer the classic carbs. But then again, I'm junk when it comes to computers, and I don't trust my car to people I don't know. I was raised in schools of old time hot rodders (you know those guys who bought '40 Fords from used car dealerships for their fist car), carbeuration is what I know. I guess that's just why I do what I do....

Re: letting the cat out of the bag
Manifold - 29135(will need 3631 fuel rails)
Elbow - 3848(3) - (black)
Throttle body - 3869(comes with IAC and TPS)
these are all edelbrock #'s
dont know why but I got the manifold from jegs and it was alot cheaper than it is now.

Re: letting the cat out of the bag
He could, it's a speed density car right? So he already has a 730 ecm. A Megasquirt setup would work too.
I really like those Edelbrock throttle body elbows. I've been planning to install an LT1 intake in my car for a while, but now I'm swinging toward a single plane. Not quite as OEM looking... but more functional, for sure.
