Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

Not a bad time Marc. I hate the way this is gonna sound, but I am a bit surprised, I would have thought the number would have been a little bit lower (faster) after seeing your bird. The mph is great, it's just the time I'm a little taken back by. I'm not trying to down talk you at all, so please don't take me that way. What do you expect from your bottle?

word.

My first run felt great and got the new best of 12.8, but I went easy on the launch.

It was downhill after that unfortunately. I snuck in 2 more back-to-back passes and something wasn't running right.

Will have to take it for a spin later to make sure everything is OK. Have new DR's in my garage that ought to help next time too.

Until I sneak around and take 3rd... haha, jk. I have to pull my motor and fix a rear main seal leak. I mean, while my engine is out, I may as well add a cam. This won't be till around Christmas time... Ill be aiming for mid 12's in 2010.

Until then, I am going to see what this current combo can do! I am trying to make it to the track on the 12th.

I will try. All my money I save up goes to insurance, bills, and gas... I don't have a job though, so I am working for my father. I am going to sac to race on the 12th though. I am not sure if I will have time to make it to redding though.I will try though. I have school starting on the 24th.

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

13.7's again... but they were 2.2 60ft times. My last run I cut a 1.9, but my check engine light came out and my engine lost a ton of power so I let off.... That was my low 13 sec run I did get 4 consecutive 13 sec runs... 13.7 13.9 13.9 13.7 all with 2.2's... I now know my car is capable of 1.9's though...

I had a blast. My buddies went too.

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

I'm glad you had fun. That what counts the most. Now go fix it and get it ready for the grudge on the 22nd. You need to knock off a full second to get to the 3rd place. I'm pretty sure Del and Joey are also working to knock off a few tenths here and there. In the meantime I'm going to lay down in the garage floor to work on my car and see If I can also knock a tenths on so.

If I can save up the money I will go. Chances are I wont make it. Besides, I just ran over a big *** bolt in my radial... third one in 2 years... My old radials had 2 plugs in it. Same tire everytime... grr, so I have to get that fixed too.

2.2 with drag radials... you're doing it wrong I went from 2.4 60' to a 1.90 60' on little skinny **** all seasons in a matter of a couple runs. What did you do different on that last run?

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

I rolled on the throttle slower and did a bigger burnout. I want to be able to just punch it and get traction. That would get me some killer track times. I am going to need some suspension parts though.

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

For now, roll into the throttle as quick as you can without spinning. When you're doing the burnout, do you notice a drop in RPM at any time, like the engine laboring? For me, that's the point where I stop heating them up and pull forward. A couple times I've stayed into it past that point (wanted to do a little smoke show) and those 60' times sucked.

Rpms don't drop at all. Engine has gobbs of torque...

Edit: actually, I did a second gear burnout, and that is when I got my 1.9... hmmm

Wheel speed is the key in a burnout, I get up to 3rd gear soon as I can. They're probably buzzin 90-100 mph lol Guess you'll just have to try different ways of doing the burnout and see what works.

Where are those 12's you guaranteed Bullydawg?! Just kidding. ..I've been where you are and know it's tougher than it seems it should be.

My suspension is pretty solid and I'm still stuck on 1.9's 60's. I need to work on my burnouts and launching as well once I get these new DR's on.

Not sure if I'll make it on 8/22 yet.

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

I gotta see you drive you car before I can give you a constructive criticism. Way back in late 90's in my IROC, I had a 355 in it and use to run 13.10 @ 108 mph all motor on street radial(Ventus 255/50/16 and Skinnies up front). This was my every day car to Intel and go racing on wednesdays. I wanted to break into 12 so bad but couldn't do it. So I bought slicks. Well, It did go quicker by .06 second. Motor bogged on take off due to a stock torque converter and the slicks hooking up. With 100 shot, it sprinted the quarter in 12.3 second @ 115 mph again with the 255 Ventus. BTW, my car club had a shootout and the rule was we had to run RADIAL tires. I mean regular radial tire you use to goo to work. We didn't care what's under the hood.

As you can see, the 60 foot is not mentioned because I know it was at it's best with me driving it and my car's combo(suspension and so on). I looked at the big picture and see where else I can improve on and not just dwell on the 60 foot. Maybe there's something else is wrong. Same thing on my ZR1. It does 12.8 @ 115 mph with an old, cracking Pirelli Radial tires.

Like I said I really gotta see you run. And one best way to improve your racing skill is to video tape your runs then analyze it. Then we can help you there.

no I don't think we met but I remember your car because you ran so many times. But I liked the way it sounded it was badass man. You probably wouldn't of noticed my black rsx run you cant even hear it run down the track with my stock exhuast. I was behind that blue new evo that was trapping like 125 mph.

Cool thanks. All I have is a blowmaster muffler and edelbrock TES system. I would like a catback sometime though...

I am not going to be able to make it to the track for quite a while now. I got into the Welding Class which is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm then saturday is a half day, so I can't really have a job. So my car is going to end up being uninsured.

The Good part is, when I get all certified in TIG, Mig, Arc, and Oxy, I can take a 6 week program that is extra and they hook me up with a job for PG&E... My buddy did the program and made 20,000 in 3 months. But then he got drunk and called the boss a **** and got fired... haha

You've got the top spot Marc. Where'd you find the few tenths and mph?

I was tuning my car. We were not able to datalog on Marc's car. USB cable kept coming off. My inverter overheated and shut off. Could not datalog after 3 runs.

All we did was change the oil & make some adjustments to the rear suspension. The 60' dropped a little. Theres still another 1/2 second in it waiting to be discovered.

The engine has a miss around 4500, plus its only crossing the line at 5000.
Time to Dyno, (anyone wanna guess at my HP).

BTW Bennie oversees everything that gets done on my car. I'm glad he's on my side!

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

We are not a Licensed No2 refill station.
The refill station we have is for person use, so we dont charge for refills, but the "TIP" usually runs about $35 for a 10lb bottle.
We also sell Sonoco 110 for $7 bucks a gallon.

7 bucks a gallon????? wtf! I've been getting charged 9 bucks a gallon here at two different places. If it's possible, PM me the info of the supplier so I can try and get something rolling up here. I know it's $6 something up in Oregon for Sunoco 110 at a Napa store in Florence but that's a big haul for cheap fuel lmao. Bullydawg, Peterson Motorsports on hwy 32 fills bottles for $4.50 a lb.

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

I have been to Petersons... Cool guys there. I order all my gaskets and stuff there when I am in a hurry and need them the next day. They are pretty good at getting stuff in by the next day.

I am not quite ready for nitrous yet unless I get a killer deal on a set-up. I am trying to get consistent 12's on motor before spray, so it might be a while.

Thanks for the kind words. It was something else. I am pretty sure we were the only ones there with a one man crew. I was so inconsistent. Couldn't do a real burn out Laptop stop working. It's was terrible. At the end when everyone was loading up, they had the loud speaker making a static sound(annoying as hell-speaker right behind me) then next thing you know....lights out, freaking pitch black. The lady next to us said, "geez, they can't even wait to turn lights off until everyone is gone". Sac Raceway at it's best. I guess not enough revenue that night.

BTW, my best time that night was 1.581 60' 11.733 @ 118.141

I think I'm done with Jolly. I need to remove drivetrain and put it on my 91 or maybe my 88 T/A.....hmmmm what to do...

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

Just got in from having some fun at Redding... Second outing with a new camshaft and didn't do too terribly bad. Best on the motor pass was an 11.88 but the mph didn't read out. So after 6 motor passes, it's nearly equal to my old setup which I dinked around with for years. Best run of the night on nitrous is below.

Brian (EvilCartman) - 10.65@122.94 mph - 1.49 60' - 1982 Camaro Z28 - 350 - Nitrous

Okay okay, this is the part where Shadow Z moves to California, and stuffs a Sonny Leonard 932 cubic inch 2,000+ horsepower engine into his IROC, and runs a high 6 - low 7 second quarter.

Haha, I wish. Awesome times you guys, wish I was having that much fun with my Third Gen.

Re: Nor-Cal '09 1/4 Mile Track Times

Do it! lol Heard some good news from the track owner tonight, they're going to try running through the winter this year. Normally they close down from Oct till about March for Redding. I'll be up there again on the 14th weather permitting.
