Re: Pink Fairy Update

So is that hole in the hood always going to be there? Or does Traviz have a plan to cover that up somehow? I understand why he had to cut it in the first place, but I can't imagine that he wants to leave that hole there forever.

My lord that belt is huge.

All the front lights look nice and shiny.

Wheels sit nicely.

I'll bet it needs a lot of tuning.

Cool.

Re: Pink Fairy Update

I've cleaned this thread of the junk and PMs have been sent to folks.

This is a shared forum and if you cannot get along, you need to ignore the user, or report the misconduct.

Retaliating in any shape/form that is against the guidelines here at thirdgen.org and does not help the issue at all.

Time is running out for those who continuously overstep the boundaries here and we're well past the "warning" stage.

You all know better, please act like it. Thanks.

Re: Pink Fairy Update

I want my oil leak fixed, its starting easier more often with the cold start tune im working on but this leak is getting on my nerves, looks like it comes from the head and the block at the back of the passenger side which I know is impossible, but it all seems dry up to the intake manifold.
Ill bring it by january and make you and Benny finish it

Re: Pink Fairy Update

Check to see if it is running down the underside lip of the head where it hangs over the rear of the block. I was having the same issue, ended up being the valve cover gasket... It was FAR from obvious and took alot of looking with a mirror and flashlight. Possibly the intake manifold too? Just don't rule those 2 out...

Your engine is clean, so I would add some engine oil dye in it & let it circulate for a couple hundred miles, then put a UV light on it & see exactly where its coming from.

Re: Pink Fairy Update

you wouldn't need a couple hundred miles. I think if you run it on the dyno you would find it. The time it was idling at his house it wasn't bad, drove it down the street and there was a puddle on the passenger side collector.

Re: Pink Fairy Update

terrell, after the intake re-seal its alot better, but still there in the back, and this time I used RTV, If its the intake, I blame edelbrock, I've never had a leak like this I couldnt cure on all the past intakes iv'e done. it was a brand new intake for edelbrock at the time anyways, who knows with these first castings.

Re: Pink Fairy Update

Not sure how you installed your intake manifold, but leaks on the front and rear seal are quite common there. An old trick is to throw away those crappy rubber gaskets the companies give you for the front and rear of the manifold. Instead use only black RTV silicone (or similar), and make sur the bead is at least 1/4" thick as there is quite a gap between the manifold and the block. Also, make sure the RTV runs from side gasket to side gasket with no gaps. May want to also make sure the plug (or oil preasure sending unit if you have one there), on the block by the rear intake seal is properly sealed, they can cause a hell of a leak.

Re: Pink Fairy Update

Thats what I did, first set was rubber end caps, and they leaked front and really bad rear. So the second time I used a nice bead of RTV front and rear, as thick as the china walls. 1/4". still leaks in the rear, not nearly as bad, but its still there.

Come january, it's marcs problem

Fair warning.

Re: Pink Fairy Update

Tonight, I drove the iroc to my buddy Williards house, aprox. 20 miles, so glad to say the car is drivable without big concern for breaking down, runs rich off idle, but at 3k its funny, clears up and gains hella throttle with a snap of the fingers, no change in throttle position either. quarter throttle off idle to 3k it kinda stumbles but then at 3k it throws you back into the seat. some tuning for better low rpm drivability, then off to marcs for oil leak fixing

Grab a mirror and flashlight to check out the back of the intake for the leak. I kept getting one on the back passenger side at the corner where the head and intake meet. About time you started driving the car around, congrats
