Need to Decide

Well the time has come. If I do not get to own and drive a manual f-body in the next few months, I might go insane. So, in light of this decision, I have 3 options.

1. Stay w/ this car, and do the conversion.
2. Sell this car, purchase a manual car.
3. Somehow buy a 4th gen.

Now at the same time, I have to be thinking about what I can use for commuting to college and back if need be next year. Since I am already impractical owning an f-body, what is the best way to be practical with my impracticality and incessant need to have a manual while I currently do not have one and cannot afford 2 cars.

Any thoughts? I don't know what I should do.

the following picture is my car. I've had it for a year now.

Not about the power, it's about going through the gears.

Keep what you have and convert to manual. You already have done some work to it, so if you sell it you would lose that money and the mods you have already done. Stick with what you already know. Take the time to save the money to do the swap, that's my With a new car you won't know what's up with it and you could run into some big issues, especially with thirdgens, trust me I know, lol.

i say put a TC and a shiftkit in it. TC cars are a blast to drive. But if ur really set on getting a manual and if money is tight, i say do the conversion

It really boils down to,how do you feel about the car in general?Just wanna spruce it up or get something else.Personally, and no offense but I hate the color and wheels.I think your old black one looked sweet.I would think about what you want as a whole.Good luck.

good point, u have done alot of work to it already like the headers, and interior, im sure you know the ins and outs of that car well by now. save up some money anywhere from 200-1000 bucks and go get a cheap paint job, of coarse its not show quality, its factory quality, and that will be one main issue out of the way you dislike about your car and its appearance to everyone else. then next, do the manual swap. plus its cool to mod **** yourself, you also learn alot.

I guess I just don't believe the fun of a manual and "going through the gears" will ever outweigh the benefits of an auto.
My shift kit and TC help the tranny shift hard and consistent every time.

So back to your options. ..
1. Conversion? Have we not all learned something from Eric? $3000 later and he still ran the same time, but I guess it was "fun" running that 14.2 while shifting.

2. You'd sell it after it all the work you just put into it just to shift gears? I think the others have already chimed in to point out you spent all that $ already, not worth it to swap to another 3rd gen just for that.

3. 4th gen? While probably more reliable, might not be in your price range unless you're looking for a 93-97LT1.

Just my 2.5¢.

oh and i agree on the paint statements.
unique yes, but not really attractive.

my car used to be very slippery, and when it would shift too early at full throttle, (4000-4500 rpm shifts under wot) then it would get fun manually shifting cuz then i knew the second i moved the shifter, it would shift right away.

do a manual swap just be patient and wait for pick and pull gather all the stuff from the v6 cars like pedals, slave/master cyl, shift plate and boot. than you can just find the tranny and bellhousing clutch and flywheel. just go with a wc t5 your not too hard on your car's

i know, it's part of your sleeper thing you've got going on.

i don't think anybody really gives a 3rd gen much credit to start with, so just having this body style makes you a sleeper.

i just want you to keep your car robby, tear it apart and throw a doohickey stick in it if ya want, but it'd be a waste to just dump it for yet another.

Well as much as I'd like to do the conversion I have no idea how to do it. If anyone would like to help me, I'm all for that. I can't afford to take it to a shop, and my father for some reason doesn't want to help me if I tried to do it.

As far as the paint goes, who really cares, paint is last on my list because I don't want to mess it up while doing other things to the car. Besides, it's only paint Robby, not like it can't be painted something better, same goes for the wheels as well. Keep your head up and keep the car.

Porkyzilla and the rest of the gang were telling me my T5 was going to blow up long before you ever ran down the track.

I'd say it was a joint effort

Screw T-5's, auto's rule, right Travis, you are still running a auto, or are you planning a swap sometime?

i think autos belong on the track, and i do believe t5s can take more then 250 ft lbs of torque without breaking instantly like people make it out to seem.

im staying auto.
