April 26th gathering... Sound good?

OK, how about this. April 26th, since each other weekend is taken for some, how about the 26th? I figure the 19th would be bad for a few since Easter falls on the following day. Each and everyone planning to attend needs to throw in some suggestions. Cruise, find a place to eat, etc. It is time to finally set up something. Come on guys/ gals. Does keeping this in the Morro Bay area still sound good ? It does to me There are plenty of places to go and things to see in that area.

As of right now April 26th sounds good. Since Famoso is opening up again what about a Famoso day sometime before or after the coast meet? Just a thought, I want to go to the strip BAD.

Not much intrest? Oh-well, I guess a few of us could have a blast by ourselves.....?? What kind of food do you that are interested vote for? I am not big on seafood, but will join if that is what the choice ends up as.

As for the drive, I say, let's make this a "cruise" , not a race. My wife and son will be joining me, so the more of you that bring your partener, the better. I know of a few nice scenic, full of curves , fun roads we could take.

Any other suggestions?

No suggestions here. I'm all for whatever. I do agree that a cruise is a way better idea than a mobbin' it event. I will be there. Come on you guys show more interest.

I did not know about SLP day... Oh-well. I race at Famoso quite a bit, maybe I will meet up with you there soon? I plan to run the test & tune on the 22nd of this month even though my blue Camaro is not ready. I plan to run my Lexus instead just to get a baseline for it. Anyways.... What is needed here to drum up some more enthusiasm for a meet? Come on guys / gals.....

I too am going to go to the test and tune on the 22nd. I wanted to go this weekend but the construction is crapping out my plans.
Maybe we should start another thread for getting together at famoso on the 22nd.
It seems that we had quite a bit of interest when I originally posted this and now everyone has either lost interest or just hasnt seen it. Hopefully since it is still a ways away we will have more people wanting to join up later. As of right now we atleast have a few. Enough for some good pics anyways

So I guess this is how it looks as of now.

RU-QWIK - Yes
BORLAZ06 - Yes
rscamaro305 - Yes
89BlackGTA - Yes
89transam - maybe
vjo90RS8 - Yes

At least we have five, maybe six. Should be fun, I am looking forward to it. We can get some cool pics of all our cars by the ocean or something. I am probably going to see if my buddy with a 98 Z28 wants to come. We can always tell him to move his car for some of the pics

I have at least one more third gen joining, hopefully 3, but 1 for sure. I think it's about time to start making the decisions on who wants to do what with the day. I'll get back on the computer when I get home... We''ll go from there I suppose.

Ok, how far are you all from the Central Coast? I will make a plan to hopefully get a nice cruise going (I have many roads in mind), then end up at a resteraunt of some sort where we can all have some food and talk amongst each other, then on to a photo friendly area.... Sound decent?

I live in Paso Robles, in which highway 101 and highway 46 join. That is most likely the area where darn near each of us will travel through.... How about joining close to there? San Luis Obispo could be another joining spot, but I am not as familiar with the roads down there.

K... after a 2 and a half hour drive, how much "cruise" are you up for? I feel kinda bad, I live right here in the middle of the area in which we plan to cruise, real conveniant for me.... What are you guys going to be up for? Another thing, what age group is this going to be mostly made up of? Younger crowd / older crowd /mixed ? That would decide a few things I think, like place to eat, type of scenery to look for . Come on guys / gals , throw out some ideas... We need to make this WELL worth the drive for some of these guys...

I am about 2.5 hours away so I will be going down on the Friday before. So depending on where we are going I might meet up with you guys half way or something. I am 24 so I guess I am in the younger crowd.

19 here . My names Nate. You make a very good point about making it worthwhile for some of these northerners, though im real close and would be down for almost anything it seems like there has to be a definate plan to make the trek worthwhile.

I think it would be cool to go to famoso ...but thats an even farther drive for everyone..

I'm in.

Like some of our other participants I am arriving in the area (A.G.) on the evening of the 25th. We 30somethings need our rest.

Food? Anything fully cooked. Roads? Curvy. Sights? Any.

Peace,

Ken, AG is South almost an hour from were I had planned to cruise.... The area can be changed no problem, but further South than Atascadero, I am not too knowledgable on any areas to cruise. If you are coming from Bakersfield, you will be driving through Paso Robles...

Actually, here is where we need to set up a "plan" , meeting spot and arrival location. I had planned to start around Paso Robles, head out toward Nacimento lake, take some scenic backroads (roughly 40 miles or so) then drop down into Morro Bay and find an agreeable spot to eat, then, there is a very large area near the Morro rock for a nice photo op. All this should begin at ??? Say 10 or 11 am ?? From Morro Bay, do we all just go our seperate ways ? or? San Luis Obispo is just near Morro Bay, I am sure there are some things to do as a group....

Keep the suggestions coming, let's get a set plan.

Not too bad though (the drive)...

.......I come across the 166 since I am in SW Bako, and then hit the 101N at Santa Maria for 15 minutes to get to my best bud's house. Good donuts at the joint at the northernmost end of Bway as well. heh

An hour is no problem. I take my lady to LA all the time (90 min at thte usual pace) so an hour out there is like a work commute without the saddening arrival at work to end the drive

If we are to begin assembling at 0930 or so, That means I leave AG at 0830, which is fine since I am an early riser. I think your plan of attack is best Jason. I am fine with the drive to the lake, Morro, SLO, it's all cool here.

Peace,

K

The meet spot , I believe will be near the 101 / 46 intersection in Paso Robles. I have had no other suggestions, so I am sort of planning this out myself. Only a select number of guys have thrown out ideas, in which all go great with the plans. More details will fall into place in the next couple of weeks. Hope you can join us.

This whole thing sounds awesome but how long would this gathering be for? I guess maybe as the day approaches and if there are more specifics I can figure out how feasible it would be...driving to morro bay from san jose just to hang out for three or four hours would be kind of strange...escpecially seeing how gas is 2.09 a gallon at my local shell station (!!!!)

Things are starting to look better and better. Now it looks like:

RU-QWIK - Yes (+1, maybe +3)
BORLAZ06 - Yes
rscamaro305 - Yes
89BlackGTA - Yes (+1 maybe)
vjo90RS8 - Yes
KenV - Yes
89transam - maybe
samdog1232000 - maybe
polagrilr - maybe

I will be in Morro Bay and heading to "the meet spot". I am down for a drive to the lake and then back to Morro through some nice roads. I am also down for taking some photos in Morro. We could then go to my parants beach house and kick it there bs get something to drink use the bathroom, and then maybe head down to San Luis and grab some grub.

I hadn't planned to go all the way to the lake, just some roads near it.... I suppose we could go if there is intrest to. I live in the area, so it is nothing special for me... As for going into Morro Bay for pictures, you parents place, then on to SLO for food, that sounds pretty good.

At the intersection of 101 and 46 there is a Dennys right there on the west side of the intersection. There are a few gas stations too, sound like a good meet spot? Dennys at 9:30 am ?

I "may" have my black Z28 up and running by the cruise, if so, I am sure my brother will want to drive it, so that would be another one joining, no promises on that though....

Sounding good so far?

Polagrilr, maybe you could caravan down with BorlaZ06 ? Just a thought...

That sounds good to me. i must have misread about the lake. I wasnt really doing backflips over the idea. So the roads near it are cool with me.
Lets see what everyone thinks of a "day" somewhat like this:

9:30am-Meet up at Dennys(101 and 46 intersection)
Go cruisin some back roads near Nacimento lake.
Cruise into Morro Bay.
Take some pics.
Head to the beach house, bs and take a wizz.
Cruise down to SLO and get some grub.

So I guess we have two thumbs up for this. What are the thoughts of everyone else?
Should we cruise to SLO or Pismo? I suggest Pismo just because of the beach scene. Since we have some non beachdwelers more of the ocean the better!?!

If we go into Pismo for food, that burger joint on the corner (don't know the name) but it is on the main street, they have great food ! I was thinking of either Applebees or Hudsons.if we go to SLO..? Either decision is great with me...

I will hopefully have one buddy in my car and another driving his 98 Z28. I am going to talk to two guys in my powertrain class about going. One has a 94 Z28 and the other has a 92 Z28.

I have a buddy that has a 86 Iroc but I dont know if he will actually drive down there. He has a really high gear ratio so he gets frusterated when he is driving on the Free way. Either way you can count me in!!!! I just like the idea of cruzing around with other third gen and taking pics of all the cars together. Just let me know if the date changes for some reason, if not i will be there.

Well, if THAT'S the kinda party this is...

...I would be looking to talk my friend into driving the 99 Mecham. If we take one car we might just take the 99 and I will run a camera. At least his car isn't peeling...mine has skin like MJ right now.

Qwik, are you talking about the burger joint on a corner, not far from the pier? It all sounds good to me.

Peace,

K

I dont know if it is gonna be THAT kind of a meet We want the most amount of thirdgens there as we can get, and then some others on the side. But its all good.

Other side?

That's a rare 'Bird, may be worth a look. Few others (if any) were made without the decal package (his TA is straight pewter)...

Heck, I am leaving the freshly-painted 5.0 at home. I think that bringing that car would have been "A Bridge Too Far"

Peace,

K

Not "other side" "others on the side" meaning all the Fbods, thirdgens and to the side of us, fourthgens.
I would love to see that bird, I have yet to have seen one in person.

Now that I have proven myself legally blind...

...gotcha. heh

The 99 car is a load of fun. It doesn't spin off the line like an L98 so it just hooks and books. 17" ROH ZSs in 9.5" do not hurt. Having driven it several times I understand why so many people go with the "no-mod gratification" that these cars offer.

If we only take "Peeling Blue" on the 26th then I'll just hang out of a window and roll tape. Eventually I wish to try my hand at getting some action footage as seen on Fbodyhideout (less drift, more drag and road course...)

Peace,

K

Sounding good so far..... For those of you that are planning a drive from any distance, there are a few motels right near the 101 / 46 meet spot, just a thought. Maybe come down Friday night, then Sat. morning, meet up with us.
