CT emissions time, need thirdgen friendly test center!
hey guys, im going to be re-registering my camaro soon. and being an 87 itll need emissions testing one more time in CT. are there any test centers in CT that are partial to thirdgens and understand that its got one more year for testing? if you know what i mean.
last time i took it through it passed everything and had full emissions hardware. now im running an HSR and longtubes with custom y-pipe, i do have the evap system intact and functioning. and it was tuned by pcm4less.
suggestions?

not really sure, had mine done at a local place near waterbury and they put it on the tread mill. opened the hood and looked very quick and then the sniffer said pass. they checked the gas cap and thats about it. When I first went I failed and the manager there said they would get it to pass if needed. he talked about messin with the timing etc until it passed. I just went and did a tune up, new 02 and passed no prob.
never saw him look under the car either since he would have to lay almost flat to really look.
i would find a test place connected with a garage like I went to. pay the $20 and see where your are - if you fail they read you a bunch of crap and then they should suggest if you want they can fix. if that means changing the timing etc just to get the computer to say all is well and it cost another $60 or so would that b worth it?
your call

i did that the last time i went through, did work quite well, but i also had all of my emission stuff including cats. presently, i do not. i am just worried it will all be a waste of money to register the car this year just to find out no one will help me out

yeah I hear ya. That's a tough one, if I knew someone at a place I would ask for ya. Even if you go temp you have like 10days to drive the car and I don't think you can renew a temp. How about register out of state? My buddy a while back used to get a Maine reg for his car, not sure you can do that anymore but if it worked you could possibly drive for the summer. Of course you'd have to find a state that does not require emissions and do a mail reg for the vehicle etc etc etc.
