i also had to replace the blower motor - again due to something that was poorly designed. the drain coming out of the firewall comes out horizontally. I dunno about you, but i always learned water flowed downhill. so the drain would clog up over time, and the blower motor filled up with water several times and rusted. When i pulled it out at like 60k miles, it looked like it was recovered from the titanic.
the week i got rid of it, a bearing in one of the idler pulleys in the blower belt circuit locked up and it melted two of the pulleys because they're made of plastic they make replacement pulleys in metal though that are dirt cheap from autozone, etc. GM switched over to using the metal pulleys as well in 01. I'm sure i wasn't the only person who melted pulleys like that.
also the week i got rid of it, the traction control light would keep coming on at random times, no doubt some other failing sensor.
i really liked the car a lot, and I'd have to say that I would absolutely still have it if it wasn't for all these things happening in 6 months time. Obviously the real killer was the trans itself, which cost me over 2 grand on a car i was still paying payments on. however, if the trans would have never happened, i wouldn't have even minded the other small stuff going wrong. And if the small stuff wouldn't have happened, but the trans did, I probably would still have the car too. It was just the combination that pissed me off.
as for the l67 in a thirdgen, that sounds like a neat project to me. I'd love to see progress on that. hell you're close enough in nj, i'd even come help with it. I'm curious how the clearance would work out with the throttle body facing backward. But other than the pulleys, I never had a problem with the engine itself. It was great, tons of ***** and good gas mileage.

well sofar i have a pretty good idea on the measurements. im going to use a stage 2 throttlebody so it has the maf still in it. then im putting on a 2 1/2 cowl hood. im making a pan to bolt to the supercharger and seal with the cowl. then adding a cone filter. i should have about 1" of clearence if i measured close.
sorry to hear about your problems. i have been beating the hell out of mine since the day i got it. it now has 87k and no problems, except the steering rack which i replaced with a ws6 one
