East Coast F-Body Nationals, August 14, 2005

hey gang,
i know that some of you remember the east coast f-body nationals that i ran at e-town for a few years. well, i am seriously considering getting back into this thing, just not with e-town. i am lookin more towards the 2005 season for the full event, but there i am going to be working on somethign this year hopefully to lay a little ground work for next year
what i woudl liek to know is if you guys are interested in a similar event if it is held at a different facility in jersey?
i plan to keep the drag classes basically the same, slick bracket, drag radial bracket, true radial bracket, V6 bracket, and some form of heads up.
car show will prolly also be similar with one class for each gen and a best of show. all based on public voting.
i woudl also be working on getting at least 1 chassis dyno there as well as the normal assortment of vendors, trophies, and prizes.
one major addition that fell through in the past would be to try to get an autocross at the event, but that is a big undertaking on it's own, so i won't promise it.
anyone think the event has a shot at a return? anyone got any suggestions that will help expand the idea?
as always any and all ideas will be taken into consideration.

thanks guys
tim

I'd be interested. Just wondering, why are you shying away from Englishtown? Atco would be nice, and scince this is an east coast thing(and not just NJ)how about Cecil County or Maple Grove - both excellent tracks. Then again if you want to be more central in the east coast Bristol is a top notch facility with absolutly beautifull surroundings. Just some opinions.

f-body nationals

hi guys... i'm the prez of the rochester(ny) f-body car club.... sounds like the f-body nationals would be fun but.. i don't know if i can get enough members of my club to go that far(it's about an 8 hour drive) but if you can find a place more central we would love to be there....

If it were held at Maple Grove or Cecil, I'd be there and surely with friends. Nothing wrong with Jersey, just thinking you'd get a better turn-out if it were at Cecil or Maple Grove. Have to remember that quite a few of us aren't from Jersey or aren't close to it.

hey gang,
sorry it's been so long since i followed this topic. teh event as we were looking at it for a while is not going to happen. teh club taht it was going to happen in conjunction with is pretty much dead and teh new club taht i am working with ( www.njfboa.org ) is still rather new.
we ar looking to hold a major gathering in teh state of new jersey(there is plenty of following based on past results to support it) some time during teh summer of '05. we are most likely looking at island dragway in north jersey.
planning is very much in teh formative stages currently. i am hoping to get teh details on what we need to provide the track to hold an event there this weekend.
please check on our site at www.njfboa.org for updates on all of our gatherings, including the plannign for a return of teh nats.

thanks

we got a lot fo feedback from people who were interested in seeing a heads up class so i did a little research and came up with a rules outline.
it is a simple class for "street" type vehicles adn should support 9 and 10 second cars nicely.
check out the forum for details.
if anyone is interested in entering teh discussion or sharing ideas please let us know either here or by signing up on the club site. we are a new jersey based club, but we want to put on an event that will be fun for everyone from all over.

looks like we have the rules ready to go. i will be posting them up on the club event forum this evening some time.
it looks like it is going to be a strong event. we ahve gotten a ton of positive feedback from several boards and as soon as we have the drag racing and car show classes squared away we are goping to get started looking for sponsors, vendors, and advertiserts for the event.

keep an eye on the club forum.

hey gang,
i wanted to let everyone know that we have posted up the car show classes for teh east coast nats. we are keeping teh plan simple currently because of teh expense of trophies. as we add vendors/sponsors to teh event we may expand the class list a bit.
we have space to support approx. 125 cars on the show field.
all the details are in the event forum on the club site http://www.njfboa.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=11

thanks

hey gang,
wanted to give a little update about teh show.
we added a complete general info thread to the event forum on teh club site and also started a thread about caravans to teh event since so many people have requested info.
check all that out at http://www.njfboa.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=11
also we are really close to locking in a chassis dyno for the event and we have several potential event sponsors and vendors ready to commit as well. so we can expect major announcemetns concerning that stuff in the new few days/weeks.
we also have recieved some feedback from a few major magazines. none have promised any specific level of coverage yet, but we have their attentiona dn that can only be a good thing.
we have received feedback from clubs all over teh place too. everywhere from south eastern michagen to south western virginia. we are drawign from a huge area along with teh strength of a 400+ member host club. this show shoudl be a massive event that you won't want to miss.

thanks

the turn out for '05 was fair considering the late start we got on planning, the extreme weather, and the price of gas. we would have liked more, but circumstances said otherwise.
we have already befun our planning of the '06 East Coast F-Body Nationals. promotion and sponsorship hunting has already gotten underway and we will be posting up our class structures asap so that everyone can plan.
we are looking to hold the event in august again, this coincides with the NJFBOA's anniversary that the even tis meant to celebrate and it keeps us away from other major regional chevy/ponticac/efi events.
i will start a new thread here with in the next day or two as well as posting major updates regularly. for event discussion and details check out the event forum located at http://www.njfboa.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=11 on the NJFBOA web site.
we are looking forward to a bigger and better show than last year. i hope to see many of you there.

thanks

thanks for the support guys. i am gonna iron out some little things and i will start getting all the classes and special awards posted up.
we are already working on sponsorship for '06 too. so if you guys own, work for, or know of any companies that may be interested in getting involved please have them contact me at EastCoastNats@NJFBOA.org for details. we have opportunities for as little as $50 and as high as $2000. we will also combine adn custom taylor opportunities to suit the needs of any potential sponsor or advertiser.

if you get a chance check out the revised www.NJFBOA.org site. we jsut did a huge software upgrade and we will be adding many new features over the next few weeks.

thanks
